Your explorer has a system that tells you to change the oil at a specified interval based on miles, not on actual lubricant life data. Not quite the same.

Yea but that light goes of a program that is built in to the ECM. Its set up to go off a the number of start ups, run time of the motor and a bunch of other parameters as well.

miles have varied from 8,000 to 15,000 between oil changes
