Default Would someone explain where all the .22 Mag ammo went?

I was appalled today to pay $13.99 for 50 rounds of .22 Mag at cabela's today. but guess what they only had two boxes and I bought both.

if anyone has a line on a good .22wmr ammo let me know.

Everyplace i went to that wasnt a big box retailer wanted at leaste $20 a box of 50. Some boxes looked older than me. Looks like my new revolver wont be getting used for a long time

I bought a pistol at a gun show a couple months ago, and it came with seven boxes of .22 mag. There were three guys all kinds of excited and nearly fighting over them. They got all pissy and hrumphed when I informed them that it wasn't for sale, but rather came with the pistol I was buying at the moment. This is when it occurred to me that .22 Mag was getting scarce.

When's the last time you bought 22 mag? $14 is a normal price for most types of 22 mag. That's how it was even before ammo was hard to find.

Main reason 22mag is hard to find is probably because 22lr is in stupid high demand, and many manufacturers may have pushed their 22m loading to lr instead since the people looking for mag are few and far between. That's my guess.

I still have boxes I paid $4 for not too long ago. After they came out with the .17HMR prices went up to $10~12 per box to match .17HMR prices which is a necked down .22mag. I hate to think about feeding my PMR30 at the current prices.
