Not a big, full exo fan either, but it turned out nice Kyle.

Finally got caught up again. ..
The new 4.0 is all set Into place, converter bolted up, starter back on. And all the 2.8l harness is removed, except what we will still need for fuel.
Things to figure out yet...
The 4.0 had no throttle linkage plate...make one to fit.
The radiator/fan no longer fits between the engine and core support, so...either we do a pusher fan, or cut the core support. Which is the better option?
Imop cutting the core support, not a big fan of pusher fans.
Still need to finish cutting the 4.0 harness apart, and removing what we don't need.

It was due time..This thread was looking stagnant, especially after Kyles daily posts..lol

I have a complete 4.0 here.
If you need a plate come snag it.

Andy, that 4.0 is out of a 93+ right? I wonder if a older 4.0L fan would fit. I am pretty sure the square bodied rangers and explorers have the same size engine bays vs the 3rd gen rangers.

It's got a electric fan, must be too thick.

Yeah it's a newer 95, I believe. But with the motor in there, the 2 core radiator leaves like 1-1.5" until it hits the water pump pulley.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to cut the core support out a few inches.
But I will look into it, see if I can get dimensions off from a fan.

Jason, thanks ill swing by one night this week...maybe even Monday on my way to newago.

Another thing...does anyone got a dipstick for this thing? It's got the tube but no stick.

Well got the radiator mostly mounted tonight, it's hanging in position, need to finish fabbing the lower mount tomorrow at work.
I ended up removing the lower section of the core support, left the upper. Mounted the upper radiator mounts in the factory location, and topped the bottom of the radiator foreword towards the front bumper about 10°. That gives us about 1-1.5" of room between the fan and the water pump pulley.
Here are a few rough picks showing clearance to the radiator.

Here you can better see the slight angle it is setting on.
And how it sets between the frame rails a bit.

Thoughts?
Should have all day Saturday to wrap electrical up.
:)
Waiting for a whole day so I can start and finish in the same day...makes decisions and ideas easier.
;)

Do something to tie both sides of the core back into each other. When I did a 5.0 swap on my 90 B2 I did the same thing as you. At silver lake it was over heating so I pulled the hood off. Once it was off you could see the core flexing and twisting really bad!! So bad it cracked my rad tanks where the upper mounts are.

Well the B2 is all back together ready to rock. Lots of work to get the harness crossed over from an 88 to a 93! But we got er...no casualties BUT the fuel guage. .. cannot seem to get that fixed.

Pilo wires removed.
Fan installed clearance. .it's on a small angle.

Here you can see the angle the radiator is setting at.
