so it should be fine as long as i dnt go on any road trips as long as the rpms are good at shift points until i can get it fixed? any idea of the cost of parts and if its doable by a backyard mechanic? thanks. and its a 97 single short sport with 318 unsure 0f trans and transfer.

First thing to do is drop the pan and check for broken wires on the torque converter solenoid but just watch the shift points if they r ok it ahould be ok to drive

Dropping the trans pans is very easy now changing the tc solenoid i have no idea how hard that is but if u google it u should be able to figure out which wires r for the tc solenoid and u can check them for beaks
