I'm not so much worried about the gubmint knowing what I have. It's the little thieving bastards like AJ Hall that frequent this site that don't need to know what I have in my safe.

Obviously with a hand gun it is different. I am refering specifically to long gun purchases.

I assume, that their is reverse tracking starting with the manufacturer, by serial number to original FFL, so their would need to be a crime commited and the fire arm would need to be in hand to perform this search,

This thread and others really make me wonder how deep the tracking really goes.
The reverse tracking you refer to is the trace request I mentioned in my initial post. I've had a couple since I've been a dealer (6yrs). Basically, if a gun turns up on LE radar for whatever reason, they'll start tracing it. They start with the manufacturer. The manufacturer says "we shipped s/n xyz to this wholesaler." The ATF then goes to that wholesaler to find out who they shipped it to and so on. When I've gotten trace requests, it's just a fax form that I fill out and submit.

I promise you though that when a NICS background check is done, gun information is not submitted. Name, place of birth, date of birth, height, weight, SSN (optional), state of residence, race, and firearm type are the only pieces of information submitted.

In hind sight I should have copied you with 6.5 cm. Please post up some pictures of the groups and tell what loads you use.

No reloading in the apartment.

I've got some loads from Southwest and some of the Hornady Match 140gr. I went with 6.5CM mainly because of the excellent factory loadings available.

It should be a .5 MOA stick as it sits. If it performs as well as expected with factory loads I can only imagine how ridiculous it'll be with hand loads.

Some day I am hoping to save up to get a fire arm. I am waiting for the government to decide what is safe for the public. Until they let us know, I do not feel comfortable making any decision this important.

It should be a shooter for sure. Hornady makes some good ammo.

Very Nice.

I had wanted to build a .244 6mm, but I really like the 6.5 and especially the 6XC.

You will have a lot of fun this spring/summer with that.

My shooting partner built a 6xc . He's waiting for warmer weather to shoot it. I started to do something 6mm but wanted more barrel life.
