Default Project 1940 Ford

Having not weighed anything yet but my best guess is I'll drop about 400+ pounds. Channeled the 1940 cab to sit lower on the frame and will be building the floor pan to match the 79 f150 frame mounts. Already have new rockers, cab corners and all new chrome. It will be built for hot street/pro street. After the body work it gets a nice shiney coat of 2010 candy red pearl metallic. I'm keeping everything powertrain wise I have now just doing the cab swap. The running gear in the pic is just a mock up junker. It sucks saying good bye to the 79 cab but it's all for the good of the order.

Thumbs down, 4x4's are more fun. Are you going through your mid life crisis already?

I guess I should have been more definitive, Pro street mud class. I'm just swapping the 1940 cab for the current 79 cab of my mud truck. As for the mid life crisis, Yes and it sucks!

I agree, keep the 79 cab, that truck looks great. The older cab is cool, but not cool enough to pull the 79cab off

Thanks guys. I'm not letting the 79 cab go, I have had it 15 years and hope to have it another 15 but, It's not nearly as nice as I keep it touched up to appear. I'll replace the mounts, floor pan, corners and repaint when it's off but there is just something about that 40 ford cab I fell in love with and when you are running against 2500LB Jeeps with a 4000 LB truck you tend to get your ass kicked more often than not

Tim, Please pull a measurement on the frame you are mocking with. The f250 frames are a different width than the f150/bronco frames in front. Just dont want you to get screwed. Other than that looks great. Where is the cab at?

Thanks Collin, The cab is at a top secret location in Silver lake. The front mounts are 32" the same as the bronco frame. Some progress has been made with new rockers, cab corners, door lowers, front mounts with reinforcements, floorpan and bear claw latches to keep the doors closed tight.

Ouch! This hurts more than I thought it would. The 79 cab has gone down hill fast as is now going to the crusher, Feels like losing an old friend. Getting ready for the 40 now so in a couple weeks I should be feeling a little better about my loss.

I take it the floor was a lot worse than what it looked? I know you had said the rear of the cab was starting to separate.

No pop cans for this one. It will be going back to the ground. It was bad Collin, No rear support structure or cab mounts left. We mounted mock the 40 cab today and that made me feel a little better.

It's coming along real nice, Just a few things to do yet and then it comes back off for final prep work and paint. Pops already has another 40 all blasted and ready for new metal but, He is working on making his starliner road worthy. Mine won't be out this season, Schuss climb will most likely be the first run for it.
