Default I need a holster

For my XDs. IWB preferred. For daily carry purposes.
Anyone got a brand they really like, or one they really hated? Just looking for input on holsters.

I have a Kholster Crescent moon, I love it, but it takes about a month of annoyance for it to break in and be comfortable.

I'm a big fan of the Crossbreed Supertuck. Look at the mini-tuck for the XDs.

This is one I've been eyeing.
Are they Internet sold only? Or is there a store that carries them?

Comp-Tac MTAC. Might be too big for an XDS, but they have other options.

Yea, those are great until the locking mechanism doesn't allow you to draw your firearm. Then having to press down on a button to release the guns adds risk to having your finger continue into the trigger guard and shoot yourself in the leg.

The Serpa is the number one holster used by military while deployed. I never once saw or even heard of anyone ever shooting themselves in the leg because of it.

Yes, there's a lot of talk of that, and in a body alarm situation, if u don't have good amount of training time with a serpa, i can see how that is definitely doeable!

Just because you didn't see or hear about it, doesn't mean it hasn't happened elsewhere.

The military also regularly trains with it, which easily negates that issue. Also, the demands of holster retention are obviously much higher when you're running, jumping, diving, etc. than compared to someone who is walking around carrying for self defense.

Here are some compilation links of issues with them.

A tiny bit of debris would not allow the gun to release. Maybe not an issue if you keep it clean, but it's just another mechanism that can fail.

I've seen one person shoot themself, and one ND personally.

The FLETC has banned them from use, most big name trainers have banned them from use in their classes, and down here, most ranges that hold competitions have also banned them from use.

Not only are they more prone to ND than other holsters, they are also made of fairly brittle plastic, and many have reported breaking the holster off the belt just by sitting in a narrow chair.

If you want a retention holster, look at the Safariland ALS, its better made, more durable, and has a more natural locking mechanism.
