Default What Year and Model Jeeps Came With a HP30

I am kind of confused. I have a '94 YJ. I have a HP30. My buddy says it can't be. I know it is because I can see it. Whats the deal. Is mine factory or did the previous owner put it in. He says only Cherokees came with HP30's

Yours has a hp from the factory but it isn't as desirable because of the vacuum disconnect.

Yours is. Just throw a tj axle shaft in it if you're worried about the disconnect. I think that Cherokees before 99 had them too.

Ok, thanks for the help. I plan on doing a tj/xj shaft swap. From what I understand all I need to do is get the correct seal and toss them in?

If I'm not mistaken aren't the tj shafts from an abs axle stronger than non abs? I may be wrong.

After a little research you are correct, they are the same. For some reason I was thinking they had a little bigger joint.

Didn't they up the U-joint size around 95 though?

Yeah, around that timeframe. I think starting with ABS equipped models. Before that, they were 5-260x, after, they were 5-297x

Perfect time to do a lunchbox locker as you will be 90% of the way in because you need to pull the carrier to do the seals anyway.
