Default Ramcharger Dana 44 help

Hey guys im hoping someone can help. I have a bog Sunday and need my truck going. I have a 1993 Ramcharger with the CAN Dana 44 with the 2 piece axle shaft. Something happened and my spider gear grenaded. Took my carrier out, went to the junk yard and found the same carrier from at 87 Ram. Swapped my gear on to the carrier (i had 3:55 junk yard was 3:24) put it back together and its so tight i cant fit any shims and something.is not right because the ring gear is not setting into the pinion gear
Its barely catching. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Put spider gears in your carrier. Should be fine.

Carrier break is 3.91 for Dana 44. Did you put the"new" carrier in. with your old gear set?

My carrier is pretty chewed up. I put my ring gear on the junk yard carrier which i assumed would be the same.
