Default Run it or not?

Tearing my Ford 10.25 apart....getting ready to put it in my Toyota....noticed the pinion bearing was bad as the yoke wobbled....no big deal as i am planning 5.38's, full install kit, and welded before it goes in the truck....then i pull the cover and see that.....apparently pinion was loose enough to rape the carrier.....the marks are maybe a 1/16" deep at most.

My opinion is its not a big deal.

Thoughts?

I'd run it. 10.25's are plenty strong, and if it does break, a carrier should be easy to find.

And if it does break, a carrier, new gears, install kit, someone to pull you out, a way to get on the trailer, will all be easy to find.

I figure by the time i weld the spiders to the case and the pin and the side gears like the right ups on pirate suggest it will be one large chunk of metal and those marks will be of little consequence....but i am no expert so i ask.

On a side note....i can't seem to find a spool for it if i decide to go that route....anyone know if one exists?

Not a bid deal by the looks of you horrible pic

If it's really only 1/16" deep cuts then I wouldn't worry at all.

Make sure to clean up the burrs on it tho just to eliminate metal shavings later in the axles life.

make sure there are no cracks in it. otherwise weld it, and run it!
no spools are available for the sterling. detroit, arb, or welded.

Well i have like 80hp so i think i will be ok....weld it up and away i go.

I should prolly just get a 14 bolt but i have no money invested in this and o like that the bottom is much flatter than a 14 bolt which should offer better clearance so i'm gonna run with it
