Default Wait period for new guns?

I am looking to put a couple guns in layaway. I am looking for a Glock 21 gen 4 and a Glock 36. Gotta say I used to hate Glocks until my dad got these guns, now I am sold and cannot wait to own one. Anyway, I want to put a couple in layaway, and every place I have talked to said that the 21 gen 4 is going to take a long time to get, possible 2 months to 2 years. I have only been to pawn shops locally that are FFL and I've gotten that same answer. I tried to call Guns Galore (where my family always does business) on Saturday, but I forgot calling them on a Sat. is impossible. So I will be calling them when they open today.

Just curious, anybody hear it will take a long time to get the gun you want? What gun and how long is the wait

You will have to be patient they are coming. You picked the worse time to become a Glock owner. If you are in a hurry you can watch the forums or gun broker and pay a little more or just wait.

Guns Galore has been bumping prices up quite a bit lately. Call Williams Gun Sight and Randy's Hunting Center (in Bad Axe, but they are at Gibraltar in Mt. Clemens every couple weeks). Those two stores usually have the best price.

Also doesn't hurt to check out budsgunshop.com, and just ship it to an FFL near your house. You shouldn't pay more than $25 for an FFL transfer, so call around to see what you will get charged.

And another note.....pawn shops typically aren't the best place for gun info.

Yea I was just looking at what kind of hardware they had. A lot of them are just about out of their pistols. One had a 21 gen 3 but I want to hold off and wait for a gen 4. Funny, I used to never like Glocks. First time I held my dads 21 it was like a 2x4! Now, I don't know what changed, but it fits better. Then he got the 36 and that fits like the M&P.

I did talk to a local gun shop (Whites) and he said he didn't have any and he won't have any for a long time unless he buys one used. I like Guns Galore because me and my family have always done business there. But it is worth looking online. I found them new for $549.99 on the Glock store, plus $40 for shipping (2 day air from CA), and then 7.5% CA sales tax, then the $25 for the FFL transfer, I'm looking around $650 for a brand new Gen 4 which is not bad, considering my dad got his for about $630 at GG. I will need to get to a gun show at Gibralter soon. After I check the prices at a few more gun shops, I'll decide what route to go with.

With that being said, I am 20, but turning 21 in March. Will I be able to put a gun in layaway and then pick it up after I turn 21?

IIRC, Glock is about 1 million pistols behind right now. They are coming, but it could be a little bit.

I would not say they are who you say they are but I would agree they are disrespectful to the customer and if you are asking any questions they treat you as if you are stupid.
Being respectful towards the customer goes a long way.
I would not buy from them again.

Funny you guys should say that, specially you aber61 about being disrespectful to the customers, but my dad was in there one time and there was a couple (black guy white girl- idk if that makes a difference regarding the situation lol) but the guy was buying the gun and after everything was good to go, when they went to pay he told her (his wife/ gf/ sugamama) to pay the man. My dad said the employee put the stop on that transaction real quick. I guess I can see where they, GG, would do that though. Seems pretty sketchy Lol

Yea they squelched that sale real quick. I don't blame them. I would have done the same thing. My mom bought my dad the G36 for Christmas and they asked her why she was buying it, she said it was a gift and the guy told her "good answer"

What gun stores are putting guns on lay away? Guns are flying off the shelves. I would be surprised if you would find a gun store that would sit on inventory (that is selling at inflated prices) waiting for someone to make payments or save up enough.

Why not just save up your cash, walk in and just buy it?

I started buying guns @ GG after they closed Dick's in Howell, the only issue I've had is when they called me up and said they had a PMR30 coming in and asked if I wanted to pay a premium to get it. I told them no and mine came in a couple weeks later. When I've dealt with Randy's they always had decent prices but haven't been to any shows lately.

Williams is great

Not all guns are selling like hot cakes - there are deals to be had on wheel guns, bolt action rifles and nice shottys. My take is that guys are looking to sell to buy black guns to flip.

My brother got me a gun belt for X-mas from GG and it was too small so i went in on the 28th of Dec. to see if i could exchange it for a different size.
The holster lady told me to ask the Willy Nelson looking dude if i could.
So i walked up to him politely explained my situation, Willy Nelson throws down the paperwork he was shuffling puts his hands on his hips and snaps back at me " Im too busy for this bullshit, tell her to use her discretion".

So i go back to the holster lady and tell her he said it wasnt a problem, got my new belt and left.
I bought my 1911 from there in November and it will be my last purchase from GG. Ive had enough of being treated like shit, i wont be going back.

IIRC only if the male was unable to own the firearm on his own.

Something comes to mind about an ATF letter about buying for someone.

I normally agree with your post. You are very knowledgeable about firearms as at as I can tell. You are dead wrong. It would only be a straw purchase if she bought it in HER name with intentions of it being for him.
