Oh I see, I nixxed the roof rack thing. So no extra weight up there. I see where you're coming from and I should probably look into the cage more. I don't plan to run with the doors off that often I just miss the open air feeling that the YJ had.

Well this weekend I was able to install new rocker panels, install JCR rock sliders, repaint bumpers and get the Jeep about 90% painted.

I am interested to see how those sliders work for you. I've seen a guy that actually "used" them and they bent the sliders and his jeep.

I have heard mixed reviews. Hopefully they hold up after spending all that time putting rocket panels in.

They are only as strong as what you have them bolted to. That is why I replaced my rotted out rocker panels before installing the sliders. They bolt to the uniframe, leaf spring box, pinch seam of the rocker and the fender. If all of these are solid I am hoping not to have issues. If any of these are not solid then you will have a weak point.

If you search Google for JCR Ultimate Slider Review you will find some threads about it.

^^^ what he said. Alot depends on how you treat them too. I think they are fricking awesome looking and I'd put them on the wife's xj if cutting put the rockers and doing 2x6 wasn't so cheap!

Well, I missed having the old YJ. I like having a more capable rig. The chance came up to trade the 97 for a 96. So I went to Fremont, MI and traded with drew91xj (great guy by the way)

Here is the new rig. I have some changes to make to it but, it seems to be a pretty capable rig.

Thanks guys. Just found my trans too. Looks like I'll be running the standard 5.3/4L60E/NP241. Current drivetrain will be up for sale soon.

I've always wanted to drop that drivetrain in mine!

The motor is out of a 93 so I don't know the mileage on it since the body is a 96. It does run strong though and doesn't tick. Just put a new distributor in it. I was thinking it has to be worth around $300.

I'll just have to ride shotgun in that sweet YJ of yours :). Hoping to be back up and running by spring.

Got the drivetrain pulled and have started working on cleaning up the 5.3L. Upon closer inspection it looks like I have a broken sensor on the back of the motor. Any idea what it is? My guess is oil pressure but all of the pics I find online don't have the plastic peice.
