Default Just ordered a lee 1000 pro reloader 40sw

Any one that's interested I just ordered a lee pro 1000 progressive press, I'm thinking it will arrive tomorrow. Once I get it set up and calibrated I'll start kicking out some rounds. I plan on checking variations in bullet OAL, and variations in powder charge.

I bought the press not really for making money but i cant stand walking into dunhams and spending $95 on 200 round. On top of that they dont always carry 40sw.
I've been saving all my brass so when i start out it's only going to cost me around $0.03 or $0.04 a round.

You might want to test what you intend to sell first. There are MANY mistakes a rookie can make producing ammo, especially on a progressive machine.

Not trying to discourage you, but I would not buy ammo from someone that just bought a press. Take your time getting it set up and PAY ATTENTION as the turret turns. Visual checks on the powder drop are critical. DO NOT let yourself get distracted while there is unfinished ammo in the turret. Double charges are just as dangerous as no charge.

Good luck. I found this site to be very useful.

Thanks for the input, i most definitely will pay close attention, and I dont plan on selling anything i reload. I'm casting my own bullets, and being that my buddies all have glocks they wouldn't buy them anyway.

3 or 4 cents a round? Try 15 cents. The primer alone is like 3 cents, bullet like 10, and the powder is 3ish.

Just remember reloading for sale is illegal without a license .

Edit to add Primers are .03 to.04 cents per and roughly .02 cents for powder.

I also know this guy who has around 20000 primers i have no idea why he bought that many but he sold me primers for 15 bucks per 1000 so i stocked up on a shit load of them. that keeps primer cost at $0.015 im using cast rounds so ill shoot those subsonic
about 4.5 grains of powder for 175 grain bullet. 1lb of powder is 7000 grains so 7000/4.5=1555 the powder was $18.50 for 1lb 18.50/1555=0.018971

No the press i bought has a rotating turret on the bottom, with a auto brass feed, deprimer, reprimer, powder charge, and resizer all built into it. Yes i understand that this is the market place, and it would have been better to put this post in the tech section. But being that it relates to guns and gun enthusiasts, I figured it would get more attention in the firearms section. Sorry for the inconvenience I have caused.

I have also ran lead rounds through my sig and it chews them up without protest.

There are gun related posts in the outdoors section further down. Lead is ok if you reduce speeds and follow proper cleaning methods.
