Default Rocks and Valleys Chili Run March 2nd

Fittergirl and I talked over the weekend and realized that Bruce will not be able to set up the chili run this year (though we do hope we will lure him and his chili out to the run). So after talking about it with a lot of people this weekend the decision was made to move it to Rocks and Valleys to increase statewide participation.
So here are the details:
This is not and has never been an official event. This is a gathering of some friends and there will be some chili provided.
We will be at Rocks and Valleys around 10 am on March 2nd.
We will have a few pots of chili brewing and I do have some of Bruce's infamous ghost chili's so we will have some of those for the people who would miss them.

Rocks and Valleys is helping us with generators for the crock pots and may be able to help us with some tables. We will need some easy up canopies, and maybe some extra tables. I would also suggest people bring camp chairs for sitting around and enjoying chili. Feel free to bring food to share also if you would like.

you can't move the chili run from the mounds....

I think if I was the mounds management after putting a ton of money into rocks and trails I'd give the "jeep people" a big if they moved one of the largest unofficial non events of the year to a different park.

First, thanks for taking on Bruce's tradition. But with that said, I'm kind of sad to see it move from the Mounds. It has been a tradition. There are tons of annual events at R&V and other than Thanksgiving day, this is the only traditional run at the Mounds.

Just something to think about............

And not dissing R&V in the least.

x2. I like R&V, but I like not messing with tradition more.

We did that based on the consensus of the people in the discussions this weekend not on our personal preferences.

Actually not true, people from all areas who said they would rather go to rocks and valleys. I actually was in for the fun and didn't have a personal preference.

The mounds is closer to me by almost an hour but I would rather go to r&v myself.

Another though, a non event run where people get together and eat chili isn't like the highlander.. there can be more than one. If people want to get together and eat chili at the mounds too, that is also doable. More runs equals more fun.

I would be down to do it at the mounds. That event is where I got into wheeling and I would like to do it there again!

I'm also in for the Mounds. Why break a tradition and move it to another location? I really enjoy R&V also but this has always been at the Mounds and in my opinion it should stay that way.

Typically Bruce does it in February, and he starts a thread that says I will be at the mounds on __ date with chili and says it is not an official event.
I can't do most of the weekends in February but if someone sets is up at the mounds for a weekend I can attend I will go to that one too.
I already talked to Ron and got his buy in to help us for what we planned at R&V so I would not like to break my agreements with him.

I vote for the Mounds as well, we were just discussing going at Snofari yesterday.

If I had to choose, Fed 23 would be best for me....

Thanks for taking this on. I've actually thought about switching locations before so I'm fine with that. The drive distance for me is almost exactly the same.

If I actually make it or not is almost entirely dependent upon my workload, I am on a projects with a bunch of due dates around then so I can't commit to being anywhere.

Feb 23 at the mounds would be the traditional time and place. I most likely will not be about to make it there. If someone else wants to do that feel free to do that.

I have missed the last couple of years and had to drop at the last moment last year. So I hope, once you guys sort this out, that I can make it!
