I've heard good things about the Remingtons.

Decent pricing.

I know a few people with Taurus PT1911 with good success. I'm also looking for one.

I bought an American Classic II, imported by metro arms. It has some nice features for a cheap gun. I've also heard good things about RIA.

would love a Taurus pt1911, but everyone who is selling them want almost new prices for them. I will keep everyone posted as to what I end up with.

I know people like to bad mouth Taurus, but I love mine. Never had an issue with it. And when the money was available I upgraded it with mostly Wilson combat internals.... She's a tack driver.

I have several but only one that is a lower end, sub 400 model. It's a Llama. Not a bad gun for the super low price. Burnt a lot of ammo through that thing in the back 40 here with no issues or hang ups. The safety is a little strange and it's a bit heavier than my other .45's. Has a heavy trigger so it take a little to get used to without pulling it low all the time. Never thought it was worth it to get any trigger work done to it. But it has been dependable for sure.

As with booblinker...I love my Rock Island. Smooth, light, but more expensive.

I'll throw this one into the ring for a cheap entry level 1911. Springfield Armory G.I. I don't know much about it other than it is a no frills gun. I had a Springfield Armory Micro Compact and loved it. I know that is like comparing Cavelier's to Cadilac's a bit but it's food for thought.

I like my Sig Sauer XO 1911. Reasonably priced, with a few features found in higher end 1911's (extended magazine release). It did require a bit of break in initially. Also, the Sig slide profile doesn't fit in all standard 1911 holsters, which can be a pain.

As promised. I ended up spending just shy of 700 on a stainless para ordnance OPS 1911 with a 3.5 in barrel and 4 mags. Feels good in the hands and tucks away nice for concealed carry.

How do you tell? Its a black trigger with what appears to be an adjusterscrew towards the bottom of it. I was told it had a match grade trigger.

When you pull the trigger does the hammer rise then fall or do you have to cock the hammer to shoot?
