Default Should I make other plans?

We are planning a week long trip on Drummond Island.

When we started planning this trip a couple of months ago we owned a RZR and planned on wheeling that while there. Well... the RZR sold and now all we have to wheel is my stock but fully armored JK.

How well will my little JK do up there?
I've been told I should be running lockers and at least 35's, Is that right?

Depends on what you want to do and what you would like to see.

We haven't ever been to the island so I really don't know.
As much as possible!
The ledges, marble head, conners hole and so on...

You'll be fine. Plenty of stock vehicles get around the island just fine. I plan to have my explorer up there and plan to.visit all the sites.

My mildly buitlt XJ running the hardest part on the island that isn't at a park

Stock TJ with 31" MTR's, same place with my mom piloting and my wife co-piloting

My old DD XJ same location, with my buddy wheeling it, 3ish" cobble lift and wore out 31" Mudkings, open front and rear

I think your JK should be fine ;)

Whoever told you that you need 35s and a locker is a retard. The most fun I've ever had on DI was last August with my Wrangler on 31s and no lockers. I wheeled the whole island and Turtle Ridge. It was inspiring.

I was also told
" Beware of mud holes between 26 and 26A, they are deep enough to swallow a full size truck"
True?
Is that what they call Conners hole? Most of the recent pictures I've seen of that are pretty dry.

For what its worth I have taken a stock xj on street tires every where on the island with little or no problem including Conner's hole. Yes there are some pretty deep holes but usually there are ways around them. A few years ago we had our Stock Unlimited Rubicon up there and the only place we ran into trouble was Turtle ridge. And that was my fault. I forgot I didn't have my lifted YJ and kept following people places I had no business being. Needless to say the oil pan has some battle scars. Wife kept punching me in my arm asking WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING WITH MY JEEP. You will be fine.

I can't see the details enough on the map, but there are some deep holes. Conners hole is a long water crossing, but there is a bypass. Although the bypass area can be deep also. I never had any issue with traction there, its just deep water. Depends on the weather on how deep. Some photos I saw on google here: (they don't show up, but click the yellow title at the top to see the pics)

There are mud holes IIRC south from marble head that a couple are deep and should be avoided in a stock JK. Again, depends on the water depth. YOu can just drive around them. Water was high enough that we killed 3 motors out of 6 trucks one trip (those were vehicles on 36s or larger, and sucking water into the intakes, with bow waves over the tops of the hoods).

There are just those couple little spots and you can usually just bypass them. Lots of fun there for a Jeep on 31s..

My heart rate spikes thinking about this vacation!
This is somewhere I've wanted to go since we started wheeling.

YEah, stay out of those ;-) They look like this:

I found a few old pics from Connors hole. Grandmans Jimmy on 36s, and my Scrambler on 37s.

Have breakfast @ the bear track. Its my son's favorite. I always love camping at the campground marked on your map with the star. The DI resort is always nice too.

The map was sent to me by someone on JKO.

We will be staying at Wa-Wen, Bear Track is on the list of musts for this vacation.
I've heard lots of good things about the food and the people who run it too.

Imo DI is an awesome family wheeling place. Love the rustic Di resort.
Slow through the water!!!
If you see a bypass around a hole take the bypass
You're on your own if you go to turtle ridge park
