Default Almost hack proof xbox 360...... hacked

Taken from http://www.engadget.com/

Ok, it was cute and all when Microsoft came out with their statements about how "hack-proof" the Xbox 360 was going to be, and they even admitted themselves that "sooner or later someone will work out how to circumvent security," but it seems like we're going to see some hackage sooner rather than later. SPOnG is reporting that the first mod-chips for the 360 will be available within a month, allowing the play of "backup" game copies, which, with the recently released software that allows Xbox 360 game data extraction, means that Microsoft might have some piracy on their hands before too long. Though, if it's any consolation for the boys in Redmond, SPOnG is reporting that "Microsoft's security is the best we've seen to date for a disc-system. It it weren't for the fact that DVD is used, it's likely that further development wouldn't have been worth anyone's time. Oh the irony.

Sadly, its not MS thats burned by piracy. It's the poor game houses that actually create the games themselves. And no, I don't mean the publishers or distributors either. It's the little guy.

good point i was thinking more along the lines of burned as in failure. Microsoft is just a very pompus and arrogant company i just like it when they fail. I suspect the programing houses knew the xbox360 would be hacked, but they weren't boasting like microsoft was.

You're also assuming that the xbox360 was built 100% in house by MS. Like Ford and the cruise control switch, we didn't design the switch but we take the fall for its failure.

Nothing is hack proof, if someone invented it, someone else can think of a way to get around it....Its human error.

I wonder if I'll be as impressed as I was with the burned pixels and poor battery life of my PSP.

At least they didn't rush to get this one to market.

Its amazing how something we consider so easy and simple can bring something they spent millions on designing to its knees.

Microsoft power supplies just suck

Actually, I would think that, as with most of the electronics industry, once the game house creates a game and sells the rights for it to Microsoft, they (the game house) get one check and its done (no matter if Microsoft sells one copy of the game or one million copy of the games).

If this is true, then it would indeed be Microsoft that gets burned.

The way the music industry is set up (artists/local studios owning the rights to their music) is relatively new (and this set up in the movie industry is even newer and most actors still do not get royalties or a percentage of gross sales). I doubt that the electronic gaming industry has catched up yet.

Either way, I still want an XBox 360.
