Default TBI ISsue

Fires, runs for a second, dies, repeat. shot ether in the TB, started a small fire, but still does the same thing, when I have it running on ether though it runs smooth and even when its running for the second or two on gas its smooth.

I hear the fuel pump, it was replaced and has very few miles on it... maybe 4k
fuel filter was done with the pump
cap and rotor and wires were also all changed at that time. The vehicle has been parked for a year and a half however and I just ran it down the road and around the block a month ago and it was fine then.

Sometimes I get a couple seconds..... can also keep it running with ether.

Doesn't appear to be flashing any codes either

also new battery -- that is the only thing that changed since I last ran it.

I am stumped/pissed as I was bringing it back to my house tonight and it started pouring as I was wrestling with it.

lol...x's2 but don't rule out the pump I went thru this on a year old pump for the blazer. Check the spray pattern out of the injectors mine only misted out of one when it was acting up. And you could do a pressure test for the fuel. Finally if all checks out. if you have a spare mapsensor laying around I would check that.

Thanks, I will look at that stuff... the only thing it had was a slight hesitation, while cold, and it had that when I parked it... I gotta wait for the rain to stop now...

by the way you can look at the spray pattern with a timming light. it should be a nice cone shape. if its drippy or has droplets in it then look at fuel presure. secondly use carb clean to keep it running if you think its starved for fuel. it will run smoother.

its running and you can see the injectors firing (I have tried 2 sets) it idles... literally for about 2 seconds, the injectors shut off and it stalls. Appears plenty of fuel is coming from the fuel pump, but I dont have a pressure tester for it.

got it running, replaced the oil pressure sensor/fuel shutoff and it was still doing it... kept dicking with it and tapping stuff under the hood and it started running again

Sandals went through this a month or two. Take a look at his thread, it seems like this sounds familiar.

MFER went over there and it is doing it again GDAMN IT!!! It ran perfectly when I last was there, now it runs and I get 5-10 seconds and the fuel shuts off Before that spray pattern is fine and it will even rev and run normal... after 5-10 seconds the fuel is cut off to the injectors and it stalls

I would think so too, only when it ran I beat the snot out of it down a rough dirt road and it didn't cut out once... parked it and now its doing it again.... Been over most of the wiring and have not found anything yet

I would look at the ignition module under the distributor cap. It controls spark and fuel. I have had dozens of them go out on trucks at work. Sometimes it would run for an hour before dying, sometimes it wouldn't start at all. They take all of 10 minutes to change and are pretty cheap.
