For 1911 stay full frame or Commander. Any smaller becomes fussy. All of mine are full-sized.

As for the 700, .300 win mag FTW. However, you'll need $$$ for good glass too.

If you get a 700 call me, and I'll bring my Tikka and we can make big noise.

Here's a better question... What do you already have? A pistol or a long range rifle?

What SS said. Also depends on how many rounds you intend to shoot and how much you intend to spend per round - and whether you want to reload or not. Rifle rounds are more expensive per round, especially when you're talking .300 win mag or .308. Also, where you intend to shoot - do they have a rifle range, or pistol range, or both.

I like handguns, cause they're cheaper to shoot, and I eventually would like carry concealed. Also, handgun ranges are much more accessible for me.

a 1911 will be listed in the Finestein gun bill.

A model 700 may not have to be listed.

see if you can trade the card to some one on MGO for a model 700.

Do you even know what the "Finestein gun bill" intends to ban?
