(We already know your an idiot) I bought a tj this summer for 1200 did brake lines and sway bar links and it now is very nice. I have about 1300 into it and could probably list it in the 4500 range. To sell it for 1500 to "pass on the deal" would be the dumbest this I could ever do. What I think you meant to say was that you thought the car was worth more than it actually was since value is dictated solely on what people are willing to pay for it.
or, what he meant is in fact that he sold it for less than what it was worth.

not everyone likes to fukc around with elventy billion craigslist retards trying to screw them over, so they price a car ultra competitively or even on the low side to get quick interest and get rid of it quickly (but perhaps still marginally higher than the dealer would have given them on trade-in)

part of consummating a "market value transaction" includes the proper marketing time / exposure to the open market. at times I dont' give a fukc about such things as I want it out of the driveway or garage quickly.

I had 6 e-mails, and at least a dozen phone calls after I dumped my YJ a few years ago for "less than what it was worth". At the time, the extra grand or so I could have gotten by dragging the sale out was not worth the headache with the hours I was working coupled with time away from family for school, etc.

Dyno days are awesome. The puzzled, disappointed look on people's faces is great. I was catching some shit at an import shop dyno day in one of my Mustangs. A loose C4 and ET Streets on a Dynojet put down 430 rwhp. A turbo Neon was making 385. We set up a race, he went 12.80s, I went 10.90s.

Few years ago I put my Harley bagger on the dyno at Gibraltar's bike night. There was a guy ahead of me with a chopper bragging about how he had 150hp, and had the bike up to 175mph once..... he gets on the dyno- 53hp.

Mine was 79hp.

Next was a new Triumph Rocket 3 that was so quiet you could hear the tire squeaking on the drum during each gear shift. 165hp.

I like when you are selling a 10 year old vehicle for less than blue book and they want to nitpick the small rust spot, or the scratch in the paint, or how it has "high miles"

on that same note I love how people say that the price is below KBB and thats what the dealer will give them....I typically reply to that person you should trade it in then.

Im betting on prices going down on used vehicles Give the used car market another year and prices will be back to pre 09 era. Have you been by a local Ford dealer lately? Brighton ford must have 100 F150s on there lot, Southgate Ford must have 150 F150s on there lot, and 200 Fusions. In the meantime we will pay up the nose for new and used vehicles though.

When I bought my truck the ad said "great shape for the year, no rust!" When I went to look at it there wasn't a spec of rust on it, or a panel without a big ding or dent

That's exactly what I did. I just found it funny that people would still try to talk you down lower. The reason I wanted a straight sale was to use the cash for other things rather than as trade in on my new vehicle, simply from a liquidity standpoint.

What gets me is that a dealer can price used vehicles through the roof, yet a private seller can't even give away their used vehicles. It makes no sense.

If you offered to sell your overpriced vehicle for $299 down and only $69 per week, you could sell the shit out of them. Oh, and accept Section 8 or the Bridge Card.

I'm uber-honest when I sell vehicles and price accordingly (and clearly state same).

My time is too valuable to screw around dickering on a $1500 car.

Like Kickstand, it does get tiresome when they want to start talking you down using the same flaws/issues I already identified (and baked into the pricing) as bargaining chips.

Now, the last two Harleys I sold were "mint" (i.e. low miles for age, zero scratches/dings/dents/rust/dull chrome, tasteful quality upgrades, mechanically perfect) and priced accordingly. They both sold for full asking price.

and of course your dealer never fucks up pre-delivery prep...

ellll oooooh elllll

I've seen dealers fukc up all sorts of shit whether it's the vehicle itself, the paperwork, or the one that pissed me off the most was selling the same, "last 6 speed silver gto in the state" to 3 different people - myself included, I had left a deposit, gotten the car insured and took 3 hours off early from work to take delivery, drove 90 minutes to said dealer after re-confirming the details/time over the phone.

somehow they thought they could make it right by selling me an automatic turd for more money even though when I drove it I told them that I was in no way shape or form interested...

honestly I kind of wish that the auto-bailout had done away with retail franchises altogether as I'd rather order my vehicle "custom" for me online and skip the dealership experience altogether...
