Default 1986 Jeep CJ7 Project

Hey guys,

I think I'm going to try my hand at stage rally, and to make space and free up some capital, it's time to sell my CJ7. At this point I'd consider it a 2/3 complete project, with plenty of good work done to it already. I didn't cut corners on the work I did, as I wanted to do this once, and do it right

Engine
-disclosure: it did lightly seize one winter after storage. I freed it with hand tools and Marvel Mystery Oil without any real difficulty, and I’ve driven it since, but it only seems right to mention
-rebuilt cylinder head
-boatloads of new gaskets- ZERO leaks
-Holley 390 carb, needs a tune badly, just rebuilt it, but the settings are awful
-Comp 252 cam and lifters, HEI ignition, headers, other cool performance stuff
-will start, but floods because of terrible carb tune
-Runs 15w40 oil to keep valvetrain quiet. It's an AMC I6, so the oil pressure isn't phenominal.

Transmission
-T5, Royal Purple oil
-Hurst short shifter, needs new boot
-shifts well, 2nd gear can be faintly notchy if you shift super hard

T-case
-Dana 300, relatively fresh oil and seals, works as it should
-front driveshaft Double cardan unit from an XJ- unmodified

Body
-Painted in POR15, then bedlined with Duplicolor roll on bedliner (the Kevlar-based stuff)
-Flat fenders- not finished
-Boatsides made of 3/16” plate (note: hard tops and doors no longer fit because of that)
-tube doors and bikini top
-windshield cracked pretty badly

Frame
-spotless, painted in POR15

Tires
-31x10.5R15 Remington ATs, nice shape, spare included, on wagon wheels
-34x10.5R15 TSLs, rough shape, on wagon wheels

Front axle
-D30, 3.31 gears, open diff
-needs tie rod end
-reasonably fresh brakes and lockouts

Rear axle
-Rare widetrack Dana 44
-3.31 gears, welded diff
-newer wheel bearings, brakes okay

Electrical
-Cherokee PDC in glovebox with all large circuits wired into it
-Fan, lights, etc, all individually fused and relayed, diagram under PDC lid
-2 blank circuits for future additions
-10 gauge wiring, all connections soldered and shrink-wrapped
-Ford 3G Taurus alternator
-Ford Contour electric fan, temp switch in thermostat housing and manual override

Misc:
-15 gallon fuel cell in trunk. Id suggest adding a small skid plate to protect lines, and gas gauge basically reads backwards (GM sender)
-Cobra 21 CB radio
-newer steering box, master cylinder, braided steel brake lines
-neoprene seats, though driver's has a small tear
-box of extra odds and ends included- hydroboost parts, clutch, etc

Other Needs:
-Fenders need boatsided and painted to match body
-one leaf spring has a cracked eye- I have a complete set of replacement springs and new energy suspension bushings that need assembled and installed
-battery is dead

Tow bar is included

Here are some pictures

Looking for 1600 dollars, NO TRADES PLEASE, and I won't part it out. I have a new machine I want to buy with the money, so trades won't do me any good (unless by random chance you want to include a HANS device as a partial trade)

It would need a battery and a carb tune to run and drive, brakes work fine, but I would replace the leaf spring and passenger side tie rod end before logging any meaningful mileage on it.

Battery, carb tune, replace leaf springs, windshield, tie rod end, weld up the fenders, some reassembly of small stuff, and regear if you want to use the 34s.

I just realized I didn't mention that I run 15w40 oil in it to keep the valvetrain quiet, so that's a point to mention as well.

Sorry, but I don't at the moment. If I can get a break in the weather, I'll pull the machine out of the garage and try to snap some better pics today. Otherwise I'll take care of it tomorrow.
