As long as it's equal comparisons, I see nothing wrong with that tactic. For example, "If you think Obama is a socialist, why not consider that Bush was the one who started using government money to support banks?".

Don't get me wrong, I hate almost all politicians equally, but it really bugs me when Republicans/ Democrats forget that they have "black sheep" as well, and that their party is also capable of making mistakes.

Why does everybody go nuts when you compare Obama to Hitler. After all a comparison is just that, of course when someone points something negative out about Obama for instance, Saying JFK, JImmy Carter, or Bill Clinton, did the same thing is not a good answer or a valid reason for poor performance.

Remember when your Mom would say "if someone jumped off a bridge would you do the same thing."

I'll try talking Bush into jumping off a bridge. Maybe Obama will follow.

It would be nice if he followed Levin, and Granholm off a bridge.

You make a good point with the rest of it. This part, I can't answer for everyone, but in my opinion, comparing Obama to Hitler isn't even comparing apples to Volkswagens.

Hitler and his regime did things that were horribly unspeakable to millions of people. They hunted, murdered, tortured, extorted, and bullied millions of people just because of their religion or nationality.

The worse thing you'll get from Obama is higher taxes, and maybe a couple of bills you don't agree with, which if they turn out horrible, the next Republican in office will overturn them anyways.

The comparison has no bearing in logic and only serves to promote hatred through ignorance and fearmongering.

Besides, there are MUCH better socialists to compare Obama to, without turning towards Hitler. If the people who wanted to make the comparison were a little smarter with their PR, they might learn that by comparing Obama to say... Albert Einstein and John Lennon, then defeating THEIR arguments for socialism, they won't have the instant knee-jerk reaction of closing their minds at the mention of Hitler.

But early Hitler and Obama have a lot in common, they sound alike and speak of the same beliefs, we don't know what Obama will become we only know what he is now, just like nobody knew how Hiter would turn out.

Exactly. Hitler set the country up for the rest of it. People blindly followed him, while the rest were forced due to their loss of freedoms. Our problem, is we don't know where this is going. That, and the fact that this is pulling our country away from the basic ideas it was created on.

You like to do make this comparison... Show me that you are able to
make a real argument for this comparison. Lets see if you can put a complete thought into this argument without doing any copy paste.

I challenge you to do so.

I agree with you and I don't mind comparing Obama to Hitler as far as early policies and practice

I hate Obama but I will say this about everybody comparing him to Hitler: Read Mien Kampf (english version). This book was written by Hitle while he was in jail long before he took power. I've read most of it (it is a VERY tough read beacause of the translation). This book pretty much outlines his plans about the government and what he intends to do about people that are a burdon to the "Motherland". This is a book chock full of hate and twisted ideologys.

I just wanted to throw that in there to let people know that Adolf Hitler was not a man of good intentions when he took over power.

true but what makes anyone think they can trust obama? look at the company he keeps. all early dictators are charismatic and hopeful. you have to win the peoples trust before you can embark on full on dictorial power.

look at all these town hall meetings. they are backfiring bigtime on the aristocracy.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to defend Obama, I just think people should know what they are saying if they are going to offer comparisons.

Obama reminds me more of Spock than Hitler.

How was that? Did I pass?

no, I know nuggets. I do feel that he and hitler have some commonalities.

however people on here who feel it is inaccurate to compare obama need to go back to school or at the least pick up a book and read about lenin.

read imperialism, the highest stage of capitalism

then read about the peace, land, bread program of the bolsheviks. read what happened with that. where we are at right now and what obama and the are doing is close to identical. add to this the remedial implementation of the constructivist design used to carry the message and whamo.

No wonder this country is going down the tubes... Nobody can put together a clear and concise argument to support their position.

All that I am basically hearing are right wing talking points. I am not hearing real, valid arguments supported by facts.
