We looked at them, for a replacement for my wife's 06 Sienna. I really like them, I like what Ford is doing with their interiors, lot of cool features. But, it was too small for us for fitting 3 car seats in a practical fashion.

The Sync & MyFord Touch stuff is either love it or hate it. I love the Sync functions in my truck, and I design those kind of interior electronics, so I like all of that stuff. My wife found it intimidating in the Escape & Explorer. She ended up with a Durango. We ran into issues with Ford's bundling of features, that we wanted certain things (power liftgate and rear camera and remote start, I think) and could not get those items without also having the leather interior, which we didn't want.

As always on Fords, talk to TrailRail...

Wife doesn't like technology so the basic radio and stuff is really what she's after. Ford's website let me build a 1.6L turbo 4x4 SE without all the fancy stuff. Thanks for the input. I want to make sure she's serious before bothering trailrail.

In the end I really liked my Ford Focus, but now that I am back in a GM product, I really really really miss how much simpler the GM radio is to operate, yet it does almost all of the same stuff.

The 1.6 ecoboost like to catch on fire. Ford claims the issue is fixed but that was also claimed on the pinto also.

We looked at them a few months ago for my ol' lady...she liked them, but they felt cheap to me. The door panels were super thin, seats were thin, everything just felt chincy. We ended up getting a '13 Edge, 3.5 v6, awd, SEL model with the appearance package...she loves it, I don't mind it. It wasn't the explorer sport ecoboost that I wanted, but she is paying for it...so I can't complain. If she likes the escape, test drive the edge...a little more room, much better overall IMO.

I would stay away from anything with ford touch. I hate my 13 ford taurus with ford touch. We have 25+ 13 taurus's and 13 Escapes in the company and everyone is having issues with myfordtouch. After my experience with fordtouch and other quality issues I don't care to own another new ford vehicle.

We have a 12 escape, her parents bought a 13. I'm glad we got the 12. The 12 is roomier both for occupants and cargo. Interior on the 12 is 'cheaper' but more simple... Aside from the awful radio/a/c controls. The 13 interior is cluttered and cramped. Harder to look at on the outside too.

Othe than awd I don't see much reason to get the escape over the focus. I would probably look into the explorer if kids were involved, edge if there were no kids.

She was going to go look and drive a couple vehicles today but she can't get her car out of the driveway
