Default This ammo shortage is ridiculous.

Had enough of this goddamned ammo shortage. Picked up my new AR 2 days before the Sandy Hook mess, and got 100 rounds of .223 to go with it. Since then, well you know the story. Ammo is impossible to find, triple the price if you do, or cheap Russian crap is all you can get sometimes. Nothing like having a new toy and not being able to use it.

Shortage? Look on any gun forum, you can find all the .223/5.56 that you could want...you just have to be willing to pay for it. The problem isn't the supply, that hasn't changed...it's all the scammers who are scouring all of the stores and buying every box they find to resell for 2-3x the price online. If idiots would quit paying these insane prices, people would quit running the reselling scam and stores would eventually get products back on their shelves.

agreed. two weeks ago Wasr AKs people were asking $2k range, now its down to half of that, or less. Give it a few more weeks and things will calm down.

Stay calm, be patient. the world will not end tomorrow. I have two guns I havent shot yet because i am not wasting half my day looking for ammo. I'll wait a few more weeks, everything will be back to normal-ish.

Reload 1/3 the price and you have as much as you want. People also do not plan ahead and actually buy what they need. Watch prices and when they are low buy a case so you don't have to when they are high.

agreed....most people were not prepared thus the craze. I got into reloading late last year and I cant find 223 bullets anywhere. Luckily I have a decent supply of ammo.

I bought some 223, 9mm, and 38 today. In stock on the shelf for the normal price. Too bad they limit it to a 3 box maximum. You just have to do your homework and know where to go, they had a ton.

got 3 boxes of .223 at Walmart today. $12 a box of 20 varmint loads. That location rations them out 3 at a time. checked out basspro last night- shelves were well picked through still.

I'm happy I stocked up pretty good before this. But when I shoot I tend to stick with the 22 and not shoot much of my other harder to find and more expensive calipers.

It's getting better. The people who bought guns and ammo in panic mode are getting their credit card bills. Long time shooters have seen this before and know the drill. What I dislike is that now stores think ammo is worth double as well. Do not over pay. It's hard to not have what you want when you want it. By only paying the true value (what it was 4 months ago) this will blow over faster.
