That blows, I had to be the one to take my childhood dog in when it was time, that was many years ago and I still consider it one of the hardest things I've ever had to do

Try this place too. Call and see if they have any appointments.

It's a drive but they are open on Sunday(it is where I take my dog).
I used that place when my lab had her embolism and they didn't even charge me an emergency fee.

get another dog asap! you feel bad for "replacing" your dog so soon (i know that is how i felt) but it will really help the wife and kids having a new cute puppy to pay attention to. when my last dog passed i had a new one the same day. being a bachelor that lived by myself it was too damn lonely without the pooch.

Yeah this sucks. I have a company coming to pick her up out of royal oak. 130 for thee cremation, pickup and clay print. Kids all pet her and said there good buys.....very sad w/ lots of tears. My 4 yr old Madison understands that she is gone but doesnt. She has hamstrrs that have died but this animal had a much larger attachment. I have a feeling its going to hit me the hardest in the next few days with all the questions that will develop, not looking over and seeing her in her spot every day, not tripping over her every morning when I wake up for work. Its hard to beleive shes gone. She been there through all the ups and downs, good and bads.

I appreciate everyones kind words and offers. There are some really good people on this site. I hope at some point I get the opportunity to meet all of you.

so sorry to hear silver, when we put down our last dog, wife wanted the pooch to be cremated, she asked for the ashes back because the vet said they just toss the ashes out on the farm for fertilizer, my wife went bizzerk after hearing that. the cremation centre does provide a small descrete black plastic sealed box and a medalion with the dogs name, and a place for a special noted that you can ingrave on.

both wife and I lasted 1 week no pets in the house, couldnt handle the quietness, and went to the bound and rescued a black lab and made a $$$ donation in our old dogs name.

When the assistant came into the waiting room, she asked us if we wanted to go in back with him. We said NO. She carried him away wrapped in his favorite blanket and he was looking over her shoulder at me like "aren't you coming with me?" I've always regretted that I didn't have the balls to hold him as he died. I pussed out. My suggestion to you is that if you choose to have him put down, stay with him to the end.

Remember this, your dog has always given you unconditional love and faithfulness. Don't let him down.
100% true. One of the hardest things I've done. But very happy I did and was there for it. Would you want to be with only strangers or thew ones you've loved?

I am sorry to hear that she passed.

Sorry for your loss.

Go to Micheals or any other hobby/craft store and buy a mold kit. Shouldn't be more than a few bucks, you the kids and the wife can mix up the plaster at home and make your own dog paw mold. No need to go anywhere.
