Yesterday at Meijer I picked up the last 2 boxes of their .40 for $18.99, the same price it always is there. Had to buy it on the spot (as opposed to doing the rest of my shopping with it in my cart before buying it), and had to show my driver's license as well. Never had to do that before. Mentioned that to the salesperson, and she said it's always been that way. BS, unless the associates haven't been doing their jobs all this time and now management is finally making them do it.

The only thing I'm having difficulty finding is .223. It still can be found, but everywhere I've gone has plenty of everything else. I haven't looked in the past couple days though, so maybe since Oblabla's last speech there has been another panic ammo shopping spree.

Anything out of the locked case (handgun ammo) you have to buy on the spot. It's always been that way for the last several years I've been buying ammo at Meijer.

Since it's cheaper people buy more of it when they find it.

There are a lot more 9mm handguns out there.

More common round that is used in more handguns than .40.

I went to dicks in toledo yesterday, and they said they recieved a shipment of guns and ammo yesterday morning. They sold over 40,000 rounds (according to the salesman) of .223 in an hour. They still had a couple boxes of winchester .223 when I was there, but it was over $1.50/round. I won't pay that.

On a positive note though, I was able to get the last 10/22 carbine they recieved, and I can now start the build I've been wanting to do for a month.

I also went to Cabelas yesterday, and they had shelves full of 9mm if your looking for some. They didn't have much of anything else, including guns. I've never seen their shelves so empty.

I never went gun shopping when Clinton was president, so tell me was it like this then? Not only are there no guns, but no ammo.

Inventories are so low, I'm thinking it has to be hurting the small gun shops, makes sense to me if there is no inventory, there are no sales and no profilts. That can't be good.

This reminds me of the oil embargo back in the 70's when there were huge lines for gas and stores running out of toilet paper. Crazy!
Yes it was like this when clinton was president, only on a slightly smaller scale. With less 24hr news and less access to conspiracy theorists, only people who went looking for that shit found it.

Now every idiot with internet access thinks they are a freedom fighter and that they SEE THE TRUTH mannnnnnnn.

When the Clinton ban was in the news stores were sold out of everything besides shotgun, .22LR, and obscure high caliber shit. And it was weeks before some stuff made it back to the shelves

Picked up a M&P shield yesterday. I went to many shops and they all laughed. Shields have been on back order from the day they were released. The shortage isn't because of paranoid buyers with that model. I walked into DNR in Kalamazoo and they had just got some in that day. They had one out of 11 that was not spoken for. I strongly feel if you are just now getting your tools together, your too late.

Same way when I bought my xds, sat on a waiting list for 3 months. Think I got number 24 that Williams got in... Well worth the wait.

I have a xd compact in .40. I got the shield in .40. Springfield missed the boat not releasing the xds in .40 and 9mm right away. I will probably buy a xds in .40 when it's released. I just like to hoard carry guns. The shield will be everyday an replace the xd.

I bought an xdm 45 recently. I went in Thursday night to look and they had 6, I came back Friday morning and I bought the display gun because it was the only one left.
Meijer has been out of 45 since I bought the last 3 boxes almost a month ago. Walmart had a couple left but they cost more.
Local gun store has been out of rifles but has a decent shotgun and hand gun collection still. I havent looked at their ammo closely but they seemed to have decent stock.

I can definitely see you like. 40 and carry guns definitely agree they missed and are still losing business without offering it in other calibers. I prefer. 45 so I'm set but allot of others have a different preference. Mine replaced my h&k. 40 compact, the xds is so much easier to carry, I'm on the skinny side so carrying anything double stacked is challenging.

I can hide my xd alright. But the shield is a lot nicer. I hear that at the shot show going on right now that the xds 40 would be released. Haven't heard anything though. Yes I am very big on 40 deft my favorite cal for carry. Also like 10mm.

I would not want to be shopping for my first gun right now. Everything is nuts like when Obie was elected the first time.

I'm also hesitant to hit the range as I do not wish to deplete my stash.

shot off about 200rds of .22lr today, sitting on 1100rds left in my stockpile.

the only thing at the meijer stores you can get in .22 rimfire is .22 wmr, .22 short, and .22 shot. they are sold clean out of .22lr

i know a couple places to get it though.

XDs-9 was released this year. Should be available in the second quarter but anyone familiar with the XDs-45 knows how that worked out. The outer dimensions are identical to the .45. The walls of the grip have been beefed up to accommodate the smaller mag of the 9 and the barrel walls are thicker to accommodate the smaller 9mm bullet. Which to me means the gun will weigh more. The 9mm will hold 2 more rounds. They are saying the .40 will be one more year before release.

We went to a well-known small hunting/sporting goods store today. They had more inventory. I wanted a Rueger .357 GP100 revolver. They didn't have it, so I settled on a Smith & Wesson .38 revolver. They had ammo too. They received 5 in a shipment early this morning. All five were sold before noon. When we were at the gun counter, there were five other people buying some kind of hand gun. Two other women were buying guns besides me. Going to the range to fire it tomorrow. Can't wait!

. The smaller private owned places seem to be getting more guns and ammo. We went to two today, both had plenty of ammo...just not a real great selection of guns.
