Default Louie Giglio and the Inauguration Tolerance at it's best!

Quote:
America’s moral revolution came today as Atlanta pastor Louie Giglio withdrew from giving the benediction at President Obama’s second inaugural ceremony. In a statement released to the White House and the Presidential Inaugural Committee, Giglio said that he withdrew because of the furor that emerged yesterday after a liberal watchdog group revealed that almost twenty years ago he had preached a sermon in which he had stated that homosexuality is a sin and that the “only way out of a homosexual lifestyle … is through the healing power of Jesus.”

In other words, a Christian pastor has been effectively disinvited from delivering an inaugural prayer because he believes and teaches Christian truth.

That's only the first two Paragraphs. One more reason I wish this administration would get out of the white house.

You mean Obama is going to do it himself?

It's not just this President, it's our society at large. It's a dirty thing to be a straight, white, Christian in today's main stream. I have no problem with gay people, minorities, or people who don't hold the same beliefs I do. I just wish that same courtesy was extended by all of the more "tolerant" people to people like me. .

This x infinity.

It's odd how the most intolerant people often preach tolerance.

Agree^ same people view compromise the same way. Its not a compromise for them unless they get exactly what they want. Bamsters preaching compromise yet said last week they WILL raise the debt ceiling, the rich WiLL get taxed more, yet did not offer the repubs a budget or a list of spending cuts.

.

But you're not being progressive. Those beliefs are based in 2000 year old traditions. It's the 21st century. :

X eleventyjillion.

I was raised in the "melting pot" era, when we were taught that our country was made up of different people who all come together to make a stronger whole.

Today, the "tolerant, liberal" movement is the most intolerant force in the nation, and the first to advocate violence. Look at what happens if you stray outside the liberal orthodoxy

The evangelical right in this country are being painted as the ones causing the problems, the ones not wanting to give in, the ones who are intolerant, the ones who spew hate speach.
But if you listen real close you can hear it foaming from the mouths of the liberal media and their followers in this country.
Prime example, I was hired by a sweet older lady to paint her condo. I begin working and getting things prepped. I have my Bose speaker with my Iphone set up with Pandora playing the music I listen to(christian music)quietly in the back round. She has no problem with that and says it sounds nice.
The second day into the job we have some small talk, gun control, gay marriage and abortion. She has her veiws and I have mine. Then she begins to inform me about who the problem people are in this country. She says its the group of people that are the ones to be carful of. I ask her who they are. She really didn't want to say. I thought she was going to say the tea party folks. I asked again who she thought were the problem people.
To my amazement she said, the evangelical right that carry guns.
I looked her directly in the eyes and said, I am a gun toating evangelical Christian. She looked at me and swallowed her tongue, well not quite but I think you know what I mean.
This all happened last monday and tuesday by friday she had relized that she had been misinformed by her liberal media that she watches almost all day.
Now I am going back to finish up painting her condo this week.
Lord willing by the end of the week she might be coming to church next sunday.

Well, we had all religions taught (not worshipped) in school until the Christian Right complained that we are a primarily Christian nation and they did not want other religions mentioned in public school.

So then, the 'other' religions pushed back.... ACLU gets involved, and now no one can have an opinion unless it doesn't offend anyone.

Not saying Christians as a whole are to blame, just some very vocal ones about 30 years ago.

Tolerance is not an easy concept to grasp. 'I'm ok, You're ok'.

I had a friend over the weekend tell me that in one of his community college classes he was called a racist because his hat had a little camo on it. The girl who called him a racist was the one who always talked about acceptance and tolerance and coexistence. He has never talked to her, made comments about her choices, or said anything to justify the label she placed on him.
I get prejudice against myself more often than I like, I wear a hat, boots, jeans, a button down shirt, and a beat up carhartt coat almost everywhere. A lot of people look and see the definition of intolerance. I could care less what people do until you start to judge me, or cut me down.
