I was able to see some of the c section. Was neat to see inside her body. I don't think I coulda watch him come out of her whoha! That woulda scared me for life. It was bad enough seeing the catheter in there. All in all everything has been great except not being able to see/hold him like I want to.

Congrats on the birth and it's good to read that the baby is doing better and better all the time. Baby's seem to be incredibly resilient - a friend's wife just had a baby a bit more than 3 months premature and it always amazed me how much her health seemed to improve every couple of days.

Good luck to you and your wife battling the flu. I know you want to be with your son now but I advise you to use any extra moment you can get right now for sleep because once that baby comes home it could be a while until you get a full night's worth!

Regarding the c-section - the scariest moment of my life was when I was sitting on a chair outside of the OR room while the doctors were prepping my wife for an emergency c-section. Everybody made it through successfully though and the only one to cry was me... but then again I have been known to cry at stranger's children's baptisms and particularly touching insurance commercials.

Looks like we are here till Sunday. Baby is doing good, but Kristy has been running a fever for two days now, and they can't seem to figure out what is causing it.

Hopefully you guys are starting to feel better!!

They made me go home. I'm sick with the flu. My wife is still sick also but she's feeling better. But they think the baby now has the flu. They tried to feed him but he threw it up. I don't know what will happen from here. I hope all is well on your end. Hopefully they find out what is causing her fever.

Have they tested her for strept?
...I'm not talking throat either.

Thats sounds just like our first. They wouldn't let my wife touch the baby until her fever was clear for 24 hours. Twice, she was clear for about 18-20 hours, then it went high again. Was really tough for her not to be able to hold the baby until 4 days later. I swear her fever was brought on by all of the induction stuff and other stuff from the anethesia and surgery.

They have. They've drawn blood from her several times.

First they thought flu....not it. Then something about protein in her urine. Then they brought in the infectious doctors and they still havent pinpointed it.

And now she's running a 103.4 again.

Update: I'm still at home with the flu. Mom still has the flu. She's still @ hospital. She's trying to feed baby but he throws up when he eats and she isn't really producing any breast milk. They think the boy has the flu and jaundice. They had to move his iv from his hand to his foot due to swelling.

Mom is getting depressed not being able to see him like she wants. When she does see him she has to wear a gown, gloves, and mask. She really wants to be able to hold him like normal. But that looks to be a ways off.

Ditto.
Jim, don't get discouraged. You will know if it gets more serious. Jaundice is not uncommon. The family feels crummy, mom is emotional, everybody is trying to adjust to a whole new thing in their life. (including the baby)

All will be well soon. The VERY best thing you can do is get your rest and get well. Stay home, don't add to the problems. Then you will be healthy for mom & baby when they come home.

I just picked momma up from hospital. She happy and sad to come home. Baby James has to stay until Monday at the earliest. He's still not eating much which is puzzling to me. Being any of you that have meet me can tell I like to eat lol. He has a feeding tube in his nose to help him with food. They are still trying to have my wife breast feed him and he's also getting bottle fed. No change with me still as Ill as I have been with the flu.

They finally cut us loose. The cause of moms fever was a kidney stone. It took them 4 days to find it because it wasn't causing her pain. They found it through a CAT scan.

You guys are still in my thoughts and prayers. Hoping for a quick recovery to you guys.

Anyhow, here's a pic.
