it is spring under on the front and spring over in the back. The rear springs are a 4" lift spring with 2" blocks
I think it works pretty good the way it is and for the money it is a great way to go....however if i had a bigger budget for the front I would have gone spring over with a nearly flat custom alcan spring and move the shackle to the back. For the rear I would use a custom alcon spring again and move them in under the frame with a drop shackle using alcan's orbit-eye
I had a '75 cherokee before this one that flexed much better with the factory springs. On the front I flipped the springs around and moved the shackle to the back then for the rear I cut the pin mounts off and used '87-'91 suburban frame hangers and the 53" leafs from the suburban

I have no complaints running spring under up front. I've got rough country 3" springs, and 2.5" xj shackles in front. For the rear also 3" springs, overloads removed, relocated under the frame rails, and again 2.5" xj shackles. sits at 5.5" of lift. Running 38" tires i can push them up to the fenders.
