Default Hobby rc power supply atx convert

Ive been searching for a power supply for my duratrax ice charger and came acrost convertng an old atx power supply. I pulled one out of storage (400w and 17a on12v rail) and got to work. After an hour I was ready for a test run and hooked it up to a 55w hella driving light. Success! I then hook it to my charger and at 8amp charge I get a 2.5 volt drop to 10v not good! Back to the drawing board. Anyone use a store bought one? To use this charger to its fullest I need at least 15 amps @12v

I was thinking this as I already have a few accesories for the ice and several batteries stored in it. If all else fails I may have to get that thunder model.

do not use a computer power supply, I have used one in the past and the power fluctuations have burned out some electronics I use a server power supply. It pots out a constsnt 575 watts at 12-12.5V. Ideally you would want 13.5n since that is what an alternator puts out. I bought mine here on ebay for about $15 shipped.

After seein the voltage drop that far I scraped the atx plan alltogether. Seeing as my resistor and bindingposts already shipped I just might look into the server supply as a backup or to test 12v stuff.
