Default which is better venue for a show? Flint or East Lansing

Taking the wife to a show, which would be the more enjoyable venue to visit?

The Warton center in east Lansing?

or the Whiting in Flint?

I have never been to either venue and do not know what the areas are like.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I have never been to Flint but the area around the Warton Center is obviously a college town so there are plenty of places to hang out before or after the show.

Wharton is nice, and it is on MSU campus so it is a nice area. I've never been to the one in Flint.

I've been to a few shows at Wharton - Spamalot, Avenue Q... really good Broadway productions.

Wharton Center is very nice. You can also check out the new Eli Broad Art Museum before the show.

Downtown Flint is not really the place to be after dark. You will more than likely be fine going to and from the show but it's not an area you want to be "hanging out" around.

Wharton has great accustics and all seats have good views of the stage, plus tons of stuff to do in Lansing.

Downtown Flint is no big deal after dark. There are several great food/drink/hangout places nowadays. You can do search but Blackstones, Club 501 and some new Wine place come to mind.
