I understand that there may be a need for it, that's why I have it. But rules are rules. I'm not going to carry in my kids school just because. But in almost all gun free zones you are allowed to leave it in your vehicle. That's what i do any where there is a GFZ regardless of what they say. It's my property in my property.

Default Carrying at buddy

Not a gun owner. I like to wheel. As a gun owner you have rights guaranteed by the constitution. The guy that owns the Bundy Hill Park also has rights. He makes the rules on his property for those who visit just like I could do here at my place. Not going to a park because they have a rule about firearms? Awesome idea, we have what maybe 6 areas that we can wheel in without fear of being harassed by the DNR? Yeah good idea lets make this guy go out of business cause we have a difference of opinion. Come on we need to support our parks. I am sure there are many things that we won't agree on, but we should agree that we need to support our off road parks or soon there will be no place to go and legally wheel.

Like a couple of guys mentioned legally stow it away in your parked vehicle that way you can carry to and from the park. That way everyone can have their cake and eat it too.

It's my personal observation that many people that insist on carrying a gun everywhere they go are not really carrying the gun for personal protection as much as they like/need/crave the feeling of power it gives them. Since these people are beta types, if they do not have their gun, they are now intimidated by those that surround them. Onceagain, just my personal observation.

100% true.
And I think it's only one guy (the OP) that has such a problem with this. I don't think bundy hill will miss the 15$ he would pay to get in to just avoid him all tougher.

Not ALWAYS the case, but I think you'll be safe in Bundy hill....not exactly a flint, Pontiac, or Detroit now is it?
Those kids in Sandy Hook probably couldn't fathom the odds either. Neither could their parents. After all, Schools are "safe" right?

Most people who carry firearms have made it part of their daily routine. No different than putting their watch on and their wallet and keys in their pockets. Ever forget your wallet and feel "naked"? You know you'll be fine, but you know something is missing.

Whether you want to believe that I do get your point or not, that's up to you. It is my opinion that choosing to carry a firearm is just a higher level of preparedness for the unexpected. Harping on odds and probabilities is just fodder to further an argument, for arguments sake.

I personally would not make it a point to not visit a place like Bundy, even though Ill never go for other reasons, based on their no firearms policy. But I can certainly see the OPs point, and respect it.

Expand your horizons. If you only place you can find to "wheel" is park, you need to break out a map. I can literally spend weeks in the UP and not touch asphalt. Hell, even in the LP, although the choices are a bit more limited, there are places to "wheel."

Ive logged probably 2000 miles offroad in just the UP alone, not counting Drummond. I have not yet run into a DNR officer.

No disagreement, I also see the OP's point, I just find it funny so many people are afraid to go anywhere with out their big bad guns.

I support the right to carry, I support the right to have carry concealed, I also think that most who carry daily do so for reasons like nuggets said.

don't fly on an airplane, because you have a better chance of being robbed and killed than you do dying in a plane crash

my grandma bought a pistol when she was 20 and carried it everywhere until she was 90 and never worried about anything and also never had a permit.

Don't like the rule, don't show up. Pretty simple for most people to understand really.

Personally, I would allow guns because there is no reason rational people who enjoy the off road scene should be unprotected when Cledus and Jethro consume too many Milwaukee Best beverages and start a fight.

Pot, kettle, black? If others or myself choose to not support a park we might loose it? Think this over. Nothing to do with firearms here. What IF I didn't choose do voice my opinion and nobody did? Could we loose our first amendment? I respect everyone's view. The park owner and me have no issues. I haven't said a single word to deface the park, have I? I am simply bringing up a topic for discussion. In that topic I stated my opinion just as you have. Legally with the wording of the rule I can not leave it in my tow pig. It is not a PFZ. It is private property without public access. You have to be allowed in no different than your own home. Maybe I will choose to still wheel there and carry. Not about to post something like that on a public forum. Maybe I will choose that he doesn't get my money an take it to a park that doesn't have an issue with it.

Here's my recommendation. If you want to go to a private park, enter their private property, and enjoy the resources made available by their organization, sweat, and business insurance...then follow their rules. It is your choice if you want to be their customer and pay their fees, but do it based on their rules or just stay home. You're not doing anyone favors by promoting rules violation in this situation.
