Default Thieves suck.

My family was at a girl scout roller skating party tonight (4 girls, I'm used to it) and someone stole my wifes purse out of a locker.

Actually had no cash in it, but credit cards etc... looked through an hour of grainy surveillance footage for nothing. Wife calls saying someone bought gas on one of the cards, so I raced over to that gas station hoping to find the purse at least. Thanks to an awesome manager dumpster diving in a compactor and a maintenance guy that remembered seeing something the same color I was describing, I got the purse back. They took her id and some cards, but left all the other pain in the ass to replace stuff alone.

Police on the case.....

F'n thieves. What a pain.

Why Thieves Suck.

Murderers, rapists, muggers all face their victims, and that takes a certain level of ballsiness.

Thieves wait until no one is looking, and violate you without you having any way to defend yourself.

When it comes to thieves I say, if they are young first time give them a short jail sentance, 2nd offense 5+ years, 3rd offense 30+ years. 4th offense, death.

Fuck that. Giving them a break only teaches them to do it again.

My idea is better than what happens now, go on probation 8x in a row and go to jail for a month for the next 10 times

Do you want a cookie? Just about any idea is better than the current system, but the courts and jails aren't set up to handle the higher traffic of increased punishments. Then there are the liberals who manage to influence our whole society who think everyone deserves a second chance over and over.

I understand they aren't set up for that. But If it was up to me, jail would be a brick building, no AC in the summer , heated to 55 in the winter, no tv, no internet. No workout room. Jail shouldn't be better than what I get everyday.

Well, I mostly agree, except there are officers / deputies that have to work there too. High or low temps cause irritable inmates, which makes managing them difficult. TVs can be a babysitter, but on the other hand they cause as much problems as they solve too. I don't know of any county jail that has an inmate workout room, but the state mandates recreation time for them so they have to have a gym to get some exercise.

I don't get a tv, A/C, internet, barely any heat at work. If these officers/deputies did their jobs temperature wouldn't matter in the management of their "product." FTP!

hahahaha. The officers don't get the TVs. Their "product" is often times highly volatile and care must be given. Don't be under the assumptions it's a comfortable 68 degrees all the time, as most jails / prisons I've been in have horrible ventilation systems. Most of these buildings are lucky to keep it within a 15 degree swing. Still, with extreme high or low heat you can certainly see a change in behavior of the "product."

If the liberals I mentioned earlier would allow the officers to do their jobs in a manner the "product" understands, there would be less issues but sadly that is not the case.

And this is why the rest of the world has a better (IMO) prison system in the US. More often than not in, Russia, Mexico,Brazil, China, 3rd world countries ect people do everything they can to NOT end up in prison. In the US, it's not unheard of for people to commit crimes so they can go to prison. 3 hot meals, free medical care, free lodging, exercise, relative safety ect. I have the opinion you loose ALL rights when you commit a crime that has a punishment of prison once you are found guilty. Your 'rights' are revoked for the duration of your sentence, seeing how you obviously didn't respect others rights. Do what SS suggests, and remove the comforts, and within 10 years our prisons you'd be surprised at the amount of prisons that close, and the drop in crime rates.

Yes. Sort of. There are lots of people who do commit crimes just to come to jail, but lets not get crazy in thinking they are getting good meals and such. It still sucks. The issue is it doesn't suck enough. Many of these dirtballs have a shitty life on the outside so it's not that bad to them. They also know they can pretty much get away with what they want. They need to fear it. They need to wet themselves at the thought of coming to jail.
