Default 400HP Rebuilt 5.2L Magnum - Hughes Valvetrain - NOT FOR SALE

This is a feeler post. I have a 5.2L out of a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Original engine had about 180k miles. Engine was built by a guy here in Holland that was the only man allowed to touch the aluminum race engines when he worked at Holland Machine back in the day.

It has a complete Hughes Engine valvetrain including cam, lifters, pushrods and SS roller rockers. Engine is painted Hemi Orange and on a custom-made stand ready for a donor.

I recently got laid-off, so selling off my projects and I'd like to get my $2500 back out of this. I have receipts for everything.

Stock lower end and heads. Engine had 170k but rebuilder was shocked at condition and was never rebuilt before this. He said all it needed was crank polish, deglaze, remove rim and hone. Of course all new bearings, rings, etc. All piston clearances still within spec. Head had new valve seals installed.

I also have the EFI components with a computer if interested. A guy in Ohio makes a clean harness regardless of trans (OBDI) computer. He can adjust trunk length to anything desired to put PCM under dash, etc.

More info and link to Craigslist ad: http://holland.craigslist.org/pts/3844415485.html

This engine started life in a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee and was retired at only 170k miles due to transmission failure. The rebuilder was shocked at the mileage as it still had hone marks and was never rebuilt prior. The rebuilder is a retired engine builder that used to rebuild engines for a local racing team.

The engine has the stock bore diameter, new timing set, new oil pump and the following performance parts:
- Hughes Engines HER0814AL Camshaft 0.512/208 0.520/214 114 sep
- Hughes Engines Lifters
- Hughes Engines 120# Damped Valve Springs
- Hughes Engines Pushrods
- Hughes Engines Retainers
- Hughes Engines Stainless Steel 1.6 Roller Rockers

I have receipts for ALL parts and labor along with a work log of the rebuild from the builder. Custom built engine stand included.

Parts - $1578.33, Labor - $815.00, Total - $2393.33

Hughes Engines Desktop Dyno estimates this engine at just over 400 HP and torque when using MPFI and a single-plane intake. This would make a GREAT engine for any Mopar retro-rod or use a dual plane and throw it on your 4WD Dodge, Jeep, etc. This was built for a retr-rod 1973 Charger project that I lost interest in so it includes a brand new Summit Racing LA oil pan. I also have all of the EFI components off of the 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee including the ECM and wiring harness. It is an OBDI ECM, so it does not matter if you run automatic or manual transmission. There is a guy in Ohio that will make a street rod harness with any trunk length from the existing harness for only $250 if you want to run EFI. Those parts available at a negotiable price is interested.

Asking $2000 OBO

Got your PM ... this engine is really built to last! The rebuilder is very respected and famous in this area. He said the block is in excellent condition and he was VERY particular during the rebuild. He didn't like the studs that Hughes shipped with the SS roller rocker kit and replaced them with custom studs to get more thread engagement.

It is a complete short block, so it would need intake manifold, exhaust, valve covers, induction, etc. As stated, I do have the original 5.2L Jeep EFI parts even the AC if anyone is interested.

FWIW, the builder drives a 30's Chevy 3-window with a bored & stroked 502 that he built from scratch. SWEET CAR!!!

Keeping the engine ... just picked-up a RUST-FREE 1981 Dodge Ram 150 from Indiana and it overheated and blew a head gasket on the way home.

I'm gonna build-up the 904, drop this engine in with an Edelbrock Air Gap and Holley 670 SA and tear shit up!
