People who don't like hockey because the NHL was locked out aren't true hockey fans.

There has been plenty of hockey being played by kids who don't even earn a paycheck. Who went to the GLI last weekend? Who heads to the A2ICE3 to catch one of the USA Developmental games. There are SEVERAL junior teams playing across the state. All quality hockey being played for the love of the game.

The average Hockey player brings in 2.4 million, ranking pretty well with other sports. Any lockout that is wage based is a joke, considering these people PLAY a sport they love for a living. I am a fan and enjoy watching just the same, but despise pro sports for this.

The thing about pro sports salaries is that the owners make a shit load of money, so why shouldn't the players get a fair cut? The were asking for a 50/50 split, think about that for a minute. 30 owners get 50% of the profit and 900 or so players get the other half to divide amongst them. Note I said profits, that doesn't include the cost to run the team or building fees etc, just what gets put into pockets at the end of the day. Why is that unfair?

I'm glad this is over though, I need me some hockey.

I thought the owner's 50% went towards everything, future renovations, improvements, the doctors and other executives....

Because the players aren't smart enough to organize and run a business. They are smart enough to play a game well. Their multi million dollar salary should cover that.

I am sad that we didn't get to host the new years day outdoor game but I do love hockey. I don't understand the value of coming back for less than half of a season at this point though besides making a little cash for both owners and players. Can they even do playoffs at this point?
I heard that Ilitch was not one of the owners that was prolonging the lock out. I heard with him being so sick he would have rather had a season than what happened and was more willing to negotiate.

I hate the new years day outdoor game. It's a gimmick. I much prefer the annual new years eve game.

They're saying the New Years game will be played next year as it was planned this year.

$300 for a cheap seat. And you get a cheap t shirt. From what I saw for prices, fiance wanted to go for Christmas, I told her no way. Then she saw the prices.
