Default 03 chevy tahoe service 4wd message

Does anyone here work on chevy tahoes? I need help with the Service 4WD message.
if anyone can help me give me a pm and I will explain what I have done and what is still happing.

My silverado is saying that on and off, I think my 4x4 select button is going out. Which I believe is a common problem with chevys.

More common is the encoder ring on the shift motor on the side of the transfer case. It's about $100 and not terrible to change. You have to pull the front drive shaft to get the motor out. I had to change mine a couple years ago and it's on its way out again.
