Any changes to the High-Point 9mm and .40?

Been tossing the idea around of getting my first handgun (mostly for home defense and to learn etc..) Now ive searched and i know alot of you will say to skip it but i dont think its that bad of an investment. I'm not expecting the thrills and performance of a S&W but there price is hard to beat ($150-$180). Held a buddys sig 9mm and it felt nice but those are on the upwards scale of $300-$400. Just woundering if they made any changes to the High-Points, all the threads i found were back from 09. Thanks for any tips

Oh im sure too but i figure for a first handgun and to learn etc figure if it gets broken i wont care too much. Plus $ is an issue for me but something with better and sexier lines is hard too fight over. Older brother has the XD40 and loves it.

We sells tons of them and never had any problems They are good for a entry level pistol But if you could afford more you should spend more. Most of us want to hate them but they go boom every time.

I bought one because it was cheap, and I had had a few beers and i wanted to spend money online. I have put a few hundred rounds through it and have not had one malfunction, rapid fire, slow fire, never been cleaned. It stays in my bathroom, and is rusting due to the moisture from showering.

So the real question is, Do you regret buying it? Also what one did you buy?

I'd recommend any of the p series Rugers over a Hi-Point any day of the week. I think the local shops down here sell the P95 for sub $300 brand new.

Home defense = 12ga will take down an intruder and no need to worry about a stray bullet going thru a wall and getting someone else, personally wouldn't go with hi-point, remember u get what u pay for, how much is your life worth?

Why pay twice? get a good gun to start with will make your shooting experience much better. Don't care if it gets broken??? What do u plan on doing with this gun? You'll care if it comes apart while shooting, do us all a favor do some research and please take a class

I bought myself a hipoint 9mm for my birthday in June. I have around 300 rounds through it so far and don't have any complaints. It has stovepiped a few times but there is a 500 round break in period so I won't worry too much until after it gets used a little more. I picked up a 10 rd mag and owb holster for it and have fun shooting in the woods with it. I would recommend the gun for a first time buyer. Get comfortable shooting a pistol, then upgrade to a better gun when the funds allow.

I don't have any experience with their pistols, but I bought a 9mm carbine a few years ago...couldn't pass it up for $169. They are ugly as sin from the factory, but with the ATI stock...they aren't too bad, similar to the CX4 Storm carbine. It's definitely cheaply made, but it goes bang every time I pull the trigger. I have a few thousand rounds down the pipe, and not a single malfunction, as long as the factory mags are used. I tried one of the pro-mag high capacity magazines, and they are junk...it wouldn't feed properly at all.

Plus their warranty is awesome....no questions asked, doesn't matter if you are the original owner or the 10th, they stand behind their products. I emailed them about about an issue I had with a factory magazine (the base of it was cracked, still worked fine...but it was cracked). They asked for my address and that was it, a week later a new one showed up in my mailbox, no charge.

I would not buy the cheapest gun i could find for home defense.
I would buy the best i could afford.

I have bought expensive guns that were junk and cheap guns that worked perfect...so price doesn't always equal quality or reliability.

But, for home defense...a cheap 9mm or 40 cal wouldn't be my first choice, I would be in the market for a cheap Remington 870 or Mossberg 500.

I like the bad rep they have. People that don't own one say stay away, and people that do own one say that they have had no problems. Seems too sum it up. I'm going this weekend too buy my first handgun and it is on the list of guns I want too look at. But I'm making the trip for a kel tec or a ruger.
