I just bought propane and a new torch at tsc in lowell a few weeks ago. I was not carded but I shop there every week, and I am old.
I think it may be because of the mobile meth labs they keep busting people with. I saw on cops that they need a heat source to make meth, and my guess is propane is the easiest.

The thing I hate at tsc is them asking for your zip code for every sale.

So it's not ok for kids to use it to make bombs but it's ok for older people to use it to make bombs? the idea behind it has no logic at all.

We don't want kids making bombs, they could get hurt, duh.

I maintain that for any person who is old enough to die for our country, they are old enough to purchase anything that an older person can purchase, including alcohol. I will NEVER vary from this arguement.

Yeah.

I've been carded for spray paint. Problem was I wasn't 18 at the time but I was working and needed it at work. They wouldn't sell it to me.

So give em a different one every time. I give the local Quality Dairy store a different birthdate every time they ask when I'm buying alcohol. I'm old enough that they don't need to see my id, they just need a date to put in the cash register.

I got carded for a .5 oz tube of krazy glue at the Wal-Mart in Flint. I asked the last why I was being carded. She said I could huff it. I replied "if I wanted to huff something, wouldn't I buy an $0.88 of spray paint instead of a $6 tube of glue". She just blankly stared at me for about five seconds...

On the other hand, there is a special needs lady at the Wal-Mart in cascade. She never carded me for anything. Mostly because I was buying wd40 & brake cleaner.

I'm on board for 18 for everything.

Just to play devils advicate, the 18 year olds in military are heavily supervised both in their housing and when on duty. I remember (at some of it) when I was 18. I made shitty decisions, drank too much (illegally), and knew literally nothing about serviving in the real world. That was 30 years ago, I don't think the modern youth have even reached that level. I will say that I think it's ok to allow our younger servicemen alcoholic refreshments on base.
