If you are referring to VVMapping maps, the first year of updates is free, a subscription for another 12 months is $10.

If you are referring to Garmin maps, it's usually not worth the $$ to update the maps if the updates were not included with the original unit.

Another question, is it worth updating my nuvi 500?? I have not kept up on any of this stuff, but my garmin has been good to me........
That's still a great and desired unit. To get the same functionality & bigger screen you need to upgrade to a Zumo ($$$$) or the Montana ($400+).

Sweet, $10. is a great deal to update what I purchased. I will be trying to get this done soon. Thanks!

Good to know as well.

What GPS systems are you guys using on your sleds? I use a 276c, but I'd like to have a larger screen.

Sorry, not yet, just Garmin units for now.

Next step up from the 276C is the Montana line. Much better screen and a lot better signal reception (won't wander when under heavy tree canopy). That's a 4" screen. The GPSMap 640 is next one up (Marine line) with a 5" screen. Both are very nice but pretty pricey (Montana starts at $400 on sale).

Nuvi 50 can be found for under $100, has a 5" screen but not waterproof. AquaBox from RAM for ~$60 or a ziplock bag ($0.25) can solve that. The Nuvi line does not support track logs and are fairly limited in features compared to something like the Montana.

I have a Garmin GPSMap 62stc, I like it for most stuff other than the little screen.

The camera is nice because I get the waypoint stored with the picture of that location right on the GPS

I'd copy it here, but it's several pages of changes. Plenty of changes in MI, lots more in WI.

Don't know. Looks like it will take a microSD card and if it's a regular-function Garmin, then it could.
Could try a free topo map off GPSFileDepot on a card to see if it can access the maps; alternatively I also offer 100% satisfaction policy, so if it doesn't work, you can get a full refund.

Garmin 640 GPSMap, about same size as the 276c but the whole screen is that size, no bottons, works flawlessly, just did a few installs on Cat Turbo & New cat HCR for a guy. all loaded with VV on them, thanks Jeremy

Bummer - I just moved all of my trail GPS duties from a 2" e-Trex to an 8" tablet (getting old, need a bigger screen) that worked pretty well last weekend. Was hoping the next step was a map pack from VV Mapping. Any plans to offer other formats?

Works great on that one and can be put on any other units you use, no problem moving from unit to unit.

Working on it...

I have gotten them to work under Orux maps, but rendering is pretty ick and not a simple install. Not suggesting to even try it, just saying...
