Default Anyone got an old suzuki lt 230 laying around?

Hi all. About a month ago i picked up a sweet 86 or something suzuki lt230 quadsport for a good price. Brought it home, kicked it a few times n got it going, and commenced to flogging the hell out of it in the dunes behind my house. Long story short chain came off pinned in 3rd and there goes the crankcase.... I have a spare engine im in the process of building but further inspection of the rear suspension of the quad revealed a cracked pivot tube on the rear swingarm. If anybody has one of these laying around i have cash and id love to take it from you. Thanks.

yea i guess theyre good for that. O well i have plans for an .80 over piston, a cam and pipe and k&n filter for the new engine but its not gonna be much good with a junk swingarm. lol

Cool. Thanks alot. If I cant find one in a few days i think im just gonna try my hand at fabbing something up. I have a welder at home and access to a lathe. Im thinking cut the old pivot tube off and machine a peice of 1/4 wall DOM tubing to fit the bearing races and weld it to the swingarm. While im at it maybe ill extend the arm a bit. Itll be a bit heavier but i wont toss a chain thru my case again. Plus if I extend the arm Ill have a better chance of not getting bucked off when the built engine goes in. lol

My buddy has one in his shop that he has been thinking of getting rid of...it's an 86, 2 sets of plastics, fresh candy blue and silver vein powdercoat on everything, 2 engines, one was recently rebuilt, one needs rebuilt, wheels, tires everything. The only catch, it's all in parts. It's complete, but it's not put together, and it needs a new hardware kit.

He pulled it all apart to have the motor rebuilt and powdercoat everything, but he never got it all reassembled.

He wants $1000 for everything.

*edit*

sorry, I misread...his is a LT250, not a 230.

that still a pretty sweet deal. If I had that kinda cash id pick it up. I think i may have found a solution to my swingarm issue anyways. The rest of the quads in good shape.... well, after i swap out the cases on the engine. Im in the process of getting a peice of 1/4 wall DOM tubing thats close to the size of the bearing race and rebuilding the swingarm with about an extra 2 or 3" on it. It should work pretty well.

Id be interested but thats a long drive for me. If it was spring id think about it only cause id stop up by the dunes for a day or so but right now I wouldnt drive that far. Thanks for the offer tho. I basically just needed a swingarm because my pivot tube was cracked but I did some modificating and fabbing and built a new swingarm thats extended 2" and has a pivot tube machined from I believe 1/4 wall 1.5 dom tube. I havent had a chance to try it yet, not til the engine is fixed and built. But it looks cool on the quad. lol

Greg if you do decide to put a new cover on it I'd check the swingarm bearings and carrier bearings in the rearend. And the sprockets. From what I understand these quads are hard to find without JB weld on the case and stator cover because they all do that. Bad bearings is the usual cause for the chain jumping off. I also have not found sh@t for a case saver/chain guard for these which is both surprising and kinda lame.
