You've been driving for 10 years and dont understand the particulars of insurance?

i think i figured that out before i had my license, although i guess some prefer to remain ignorant.

I could go into all the details about what you could have done, should have done and how insurance works, but I stopped doing that a long time ago. I'm going to tell you exactly what you need to do and what not to do, so you don't waste your time.

1. Insurance will always raw dog you.
2. Quit your bitching there is nothing you can do about it.
3. Ha ha
4. Here is a check for $1,000 so long as you do all of the foot work.
5. Please hurry and get another vehicle so insurance companies can continue to raw dog you. They like that.
6. Please continue being an exceptional driver and insurance companies will do you the favor of pulling out and spraying their junk all over your back as a thank you.
7. Please don't bother suing because they hate shooting the champagne they are drinking through their nose.

1. Call your insurance company, ask for a copy of your declarations page.
2. Obtain the police report
4. Get an estimate from a reputable collision shop for the cost of repairs to your vehicle.
5. Call the at fault parties insurance company (claims), ask to file a claim for mini tort.
6. Write the claim number on EVERY SINGLE PAGE of 1., 2., and 3.
7. Fax it to the at fault parties insurance company.
8. Keep the phone and claim # and the adjusters name handy.
9. Wait for your $1,000 check (it used to be $500, they just changed it)
10. Don't try to file a lawsuit for anything else, you aren't entitled to it.

Don't listen to anyone else tell you all about how they think it works. Seriously. Don't.
What she said. I just went through this with my jeep to. I did not know it has gone up to a 1000.00 yet. Did not happen when I did my claim a few months ago. It was in the works but did not think it was till next year.

But cliff notes you are screwed deal with it and move on

WOW I am surprised that the other persons ins did not sue her pants off?
How long ago was it as Mi no fault law I believe states that if you do not have any ins you are at fault no matter what. Did she just have expired proof of ins or expired policy?

Expired (lapsed) insurance. She sued, if I remember correctly, for pain/suffering/loss of transportation. He was at fault. He pulled out of his driveway and didn't see her.

plpd vs full coverage

the labeling should explain that for you!

If you want a check when you total it you have to pay for full coverage.

It's sounds like she got money towards the pain and suffering. And hopefully your buddy has learned to pay more attention while behind the wheel of a motor vehicle so he doesn't injure someone else.
