I am not sure the mind set on the people having to go disarm neighbors and fellow countrymen. Would it be just part of their job now? Is it "what I was told to do at work today"? what would happen when those disarming you were disarmed next? It is then free reign for robbers and thieves that still have guns to break into your homes and take what they want. Time to booby trap the house "home alone" style?

What do you think?

Just posing questions as it was a topic of discussion tonight on another board and was an interesting read....

Post-Katrina New Orleans.

Following reports of rescuers taking fire, the New Orleans Police Superintendent ordered the confiscation of all privately-owned firearms, stating "Guns will be taken. Only law enforcement will be allowed to have guns". Teams made up of NOLA police, US Marshals, and National Guardsmen went door-to-door confiscating guns without warrants and occasionally using force.

So, here we had a host of law enforcement and military types acting under the direction of a local police official confiscating legally-owned guns.

So, yes I believe it could happen.

And when I mean check I mean check with a warrant, so good luck hiding them. The take the guns from those that shouldn't have them and register the ones people do have in a national data base.
Really? You think rifles and shotguns should be registered?

We just went through the long gun registering here in Canuckistan... Thank you to all of the people who fought it tooth and nail, and finally had it abolished. They wanted every rifle and shotgun registered so that if one was stolen or used in a crime, they would be able to track its heritage. If you were caught hunting with an unregistered long gun, you were fined and your gun was confiscated. Why anyone needed to know who had what for hunting weapons is beyond me... Definitely not a slope I would want to start down... I'm just glad we clawed back up.

You also pay tax on everything you register that would be a gold mine for the state .

Nope, don't agree. Why is a vehicle registered? IMO, for identification due to a traffic violation or if you are trying to find out who owns it and/or a way to insure that a person pays their annual road usage tax. None of this applies to a rifle. You don't leave a rifle sitting on the side of the road nor do you need to identify who is driving erratically with a gun.

It's no ones business what is in my home.

as much as I don't like it, these fucktards that are in office are not going to let this gun control issue go, they are going to ban something before it’s over. I’m just thinking outside the box as a way to shut them up. Trust me when I say this…before this latest freak out is over, something will be banned, and then it is everyones business what's in your home.

Well, we all need to be writing our representatives both state and federal. I'm guilty of not doing it and need to get at it.

I agree with you guys, the media got the permit to go crazy with this story and since most media types are bleeding hearts they will not put this issue down till something happens

I'm all for it, but these assholes are going to ban something, they are going to say it's for the saftey of the children, and they are going to all pat themselves on the backs, mean while never understanding what they have just done. I hate to say it but the general public can't make up it's own mind, the rely on the media, and the media is really nothing more than entertainment, with reporting on everything but the truth. I know for me I would like to watch the news, not someoneís opinion on the news, but thats all thats left anymore
