He called out the media on all the non factual comments they've been making about guns and ammo.
He called for a trained, armed officer in ever school across America.

Thank You Wayne & the NRA for finally standing up and speaking the truth.

And a "shout out" to the two a-holes that took the time to stand up during the press conference and show there true colors as uninformed dumb-asses. Way to make you-self noticed. Hope you don't make bail this weekend.

Came into this one late but Ive been reading a few arguements a couple pages back so I thought I,d toss in a couple pennies too. I own a mossberg 500 pursuader thats got all the "tacticool" goodies on it. It is locked in my gun cabinet in a room behind a locked door in my house. Its an awesome weapon, I could probably hunt with it but other than target shooting its basically useless. I live about 2 blocks away from an area thats been bad for years with shootings and robberies and all that crap that goes on way too much in our world. My point is I have this perfectly good home defense shotgun all tucked away and locked up so nobody will steal it. But what if im home in bed and somebody kicks my door in? think i can unlock my cabinet, load my shotgun and rack a shell before im dead? Doubt it. Thats why my 1911 .45 is in the night stand with a mag full o hollowpoints ; ) I do agree that people should keep their stuff locked up. Especially folks with little kids or crazies running around. But lots of people buy their guns for home defense... Cant defend your home with a gun behind a locked door.

Carry your gun.
Keep it on nightstand when you sleep.

If you have more than one, lock up the ones you are not carrying.

How hard is this to do?

Ted Nugent Speech

More laws and more restrictions won’t fix our culture. The problem we face is much deeper, more insidious. What ails us is a spiritual bankruptcy of cultural values that actually matter. More laws and restrictions can’t cure that.

It is so sad that a tragedy like this is the only time anyone actually takes the time and energy to address the issues.

What do you all think the answer is?

My brother in law summed it up pretty well.
In the wake of such a horrible tragedy, I think that it is shameful for those who would steal this time of mourning to attempt to turn it into an issue of gun control. When will we as a Nation start taking responsibility? When will we start to talk about the real elephant in the room - Mental Illness. A sane person would not have perpetrated such a hideous act on the innocent. By definition alone, the person who did this was insane. We as a Country do not like to acknowledge mental illness. Insurance companies are rapidly refusing to cover treatment. Treatment centers are going broke and closing due to lack of funds.... It is like the issue doesn't exist. Why is our Nation not talking about the mentally ill and what can be done to insure that this type of tragedy doesn't occur again. It seems that is all boils down to the political agenda of politicians and the news. We need to start acknowledging that mental illness exists, and it was a mentally ill person that cut short those innocent lives - not the gun. If there were no guns, the mentally ill would just find another weapon. (30 wounded in China with a knife... Man with a knife kills at a daycare in Great Britain...) In fact there is research right now that shows that 1/3 of mass killings, (that is murders of four or more people), are committed with weapons other than a gun, but the news does not show those stories.... Curiously, the news shows that same lack of coverage in regards to "Fast and Furious".... I wonder why that example was left out as the President reviewed cases of violence involving guns as a reason for banning them.... The fact is, that we just can not blame the weapon without examining the person holding it. There are enough gun laws on the books - enforce them. Don't give guns to drug cartels, just to increase gun violence so you can show a reason to ban them, then sweep it all under the "news rug" when it bites you in the ass! Don't use a tragedy like this recent event to further your political ideals on guns. Examine the real issue... Mental Illness. How about talking about a new mental illness law, one that says that mental illness will get treated, that neighbors of mentally ill have a right to know just as they should know if a pedophile move into the neighborhood. Give schools and teachers the right to protect themselves. Stop forcing all kids into the same classroom regardless of the mental status and claiming that your not "leaving any child behind." Some children need more help than a 20 to 30 kid per classroom environment can handle. By cramming them all together in one classroom, tying the teachers hands in the way that they deal with special needs children, refusing to acknowledge mental illness, and worse - refusing to treat it appropriately, rewarding everyone regardless of achievement... we create an environment of people who are self entitled, that have a disconnect with reality and do not have proper life skills to cope. Guns are not to blame, our society is. My heart breaks for those children who lost their lives, and all they had to look forward to... Christmas, laughter, birthdays, friendships, marriage, kids of their own.... My thought and prayer go out to their families. As a father I can not imagine a greater loss. My gratitude and prayers to the families of the adults who lost their lives bravely attempting to protect the children. Even as they were unarmed and I am sure, afraid for their own safety, they selflessly leapt into danger in defense of those who could not. ~Richard Drilling

I've said the same thing. Try raising a child that's bi-polar, and has paranoia and multiple personalities.

BTW, your BIL's name is Dick Drilling? Awesome.

Quote:
Anti-Second Amendment advocates have attacked gun ownership from a number of angles. On Thursday, anti-gun zealot and filmmaker Michael Moore said the desire to own firearms and support the Second Amendment is tied to racism.
“I think we’re a very frightened people,” Moore said. “I think we’ve been frightened ever since we landed on these shores. We were frightened of the native people… we were frightened of the slaves we brought over, as we should have been.

So, he is advocating being afraid of African-Americans?
