Default Good movies from when you were a kid

Recently I've been showing my kids some classics from when I was a kid. We've watched the Star Wars movies, the Princes Bride, Jumanji, and most recently the Goonies. I forgot how cool the Goonies was.

What are some other great 80s movies that are family friendly? There have been a few that I've turned off because there's way more swearing than I remember (like Bad News Bears.. lol).

So what others can you suggest? I'm sick of kids cartoons and stupid Disney shows.

I have two girls and under 10. I'm not sure I'm ready to show them flicks like Caddy Shack, Vacation, Stripes, Trading Places, and Police Academy until, well, ever. lol.

I've thought about Indiana Jones movies, but not sure they are ready for the melting faces. lol.

ET- I thought this movie sucked when I saw it as a kid, maybe I'll see if its any better now
Sand lot, Big, Back to the Future, Karate Kid, GHost Busters, Uncle Buck - they've seen those
Christmas Story - every year at Christmas

Young Guns, Top Gun, Beetle Juice, Stand by Me, Airplane, Great outdoors, Ferris Bueler

I might have to look at these. Stand by Me might have to wait, same with Airplane.

Porkies, but recently tried to watch it again. Lets just say my sense of humor has matured substantially. But back then I thought it was the best thing since the JCP catalog.

The Shrek series isn't bad. Neither is the Kung Fu Panda saga.

Been on a animated kick lately. There are several of those.

Charlotte's Web is a feelgood movie.
