It is up in the Soo on the other side.It was started by the Canadians some 20 or more years ago(I was told by the guys that put it together now) and is still going on.The couple times I have been there for it,it was held on private property, but they used to run government property. This years run will be held on 160+/-acres of trees, rocks, and mud.I run up there a few times a year and it is a good test of machine and skill, and the the Canadians are good people to hang with.If you Google "Loonie Run" some old pictures and info come up.

It is being held on the weekend of Oct. 7/8 and it is at Charlene's property again which is where it was 2 years ago.Curly has been opening some new trails(more rock). There will most likely be a fee this year of 10 or 20 bucks(to help with property taxes and such). As for the mud it is not to bad there, and the way trails are they are like a spiders web so you do not have to get stuck in a line like past years.Sound like a lot of people going, the Cabins at Glenview are all booked up.

WOW!
They still do these?
I haven't heard the "Loony Run" name in at least 10 years.
I know several of the Two Trackers used to go every year.

They had video that looked like it was INSANE.
(Also of questionable legality in some cases)

I heard about one year, in particular, that they brought like 14 vehicles out on the trail and 23 hours later limped the one, still-running/ moving, rig off the trail.

The others had to be retrieved over the next two days.

Have fun, and I hope you have AT LEAST 38s, lockers, and a winch at EACH end of your rig.

that was actually gitchee gumee and some of the people helping retrieve the rigs are the locals who put on the loonie run.

long story short, the "stock run" went out and "found" trail 17.... the rest is history, the rigs had no business on that trail and things started to snowball from there.

yup, I would have to say that sounds like what 95 geo said, 1999 GG

as for legality, according to the Ministry (Canada's DNR) no laws where broken...
they don't have half the restrictions we do here... yet
