I've always joked about running my Impreza out there but that 1.8 would probably fall apart.

I am one of those asshats.

It can be a lot of fun doing loops on the hills as long as there is no conflictive traffic. And for the record, you are not allowed to turn around until AFTER you have crested the hill.

@Whiterhino - why would you be allowed to turn around after you've crested the hill? The directional zone signs are at the base of the hill, not the crest, and the DNR map of the dunes clearly show that the base of the dune is in the directional area.

I've probably missed some degree of sarcasm here, haven't I ?

I'd rather have some asshat perform an occasional loop than a bunch of asshats parked on the top of the hill so nobody else can climb it. At least the loopers give you something to cheer for - a roll over!

I can't give any specific ruling to it but that's the way it has always been since the one way was implimented. But here's my take on it. The one way is in effect due to restricted visibility on steep hills where vehicles coming from opposite directions can hit at the top. If you are still on the north side of the hill, there is no restricted visibility.

Note; even the guided dune rides do it.

I am an asshole also. I whip donuts at any point on test hill with my sand rail using the cutter break then wheelie up the rest of the hill. It is fun to make grown men in the passenger seat scream like little girls.

I guess it's not a big deal on the off weekends, but on the busy ones(Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day) doing that is idiotic and reckless.

I think the signs there say no u-turns after cresting hill. Which would mean the picture posted earlier is perfectly legal. I do agree that I wouldn't recommend doing it on a real busy weekend.

In jdirts defence (driver in photo). There were 8 people there that day and 6 of them were standing next to me watching.

The purpose of that photo was to instill some confidence in the OP. Thanks for being a debbie downer!

Um you are wrong! The more flags you put on your truck the more horsepower you have. Each flag you add will add a minimum of 5hp
