I was told the 5.0L uppers in cars std vs ho are the same (cobra excluded). If that is the case then LKQ/weller is $35 for the upper.

But if I can find a lower gt40 (lightning or knock off) I can run the explorer upper which is better then the std or ho uppers.

I have a 5.8L truck 351, trying to get the motor hieght down. I can run a bcbronco intake adapter on my stock lower to fit a stock 5.0L upper car (exc cobra and explorer). Or find a gt40/lightning lower and not run an adapter at all.

From research the lighting stuff is not worth the price vs the upgrade it is over the stock stuff so might as well spend the money on an aftermarket stuff. I have heard the trick flow knock off is not a bad piece and iirc is roughly $400 vs the lighting stuff will run roughly $300

Sounds like I really just need to find a 5.8L car upper/lower
or
Buy the bcbronco adapter and car upper-probably $200ish overall but rather not run the adapter

Esc since my 5.8L is just speed denisty

It isnt between the 302 and 351. 351 are wider between the heads.

John, Ford never made a efi 5.8 car intake other than the FMS GT40 stuff which is stupid money to buy.

I would get a boneyard Explorer intake setup and get the adapters to bolt to the heads.

On the 5.0 uppers...watch the bore size behind the throttlebody cuz some non HO 5.0 cars used a smaller choked down upper intake.

Ford produced the crown vic with the 5.8L in the mid 80s till the platform change in 91. Its was almost exclusive to police packaged vics.

All of the 83-91 cop cars that got 5.8's were carbed. My grand father had a 90 cop car with a 351w in it and it had a 85 mustang GT style dual snorkel air cleaner on it with a 4 barrel.

Spacers.
