4l60e compatability

would a 4l60e originally from a 1999 silverado with a 4.3L engine work with 2006 Tahoe 5.3L? Thinking it will bolt up fine but wondering about ecm controlling the 4l60e? reason I ask is I put a 4.3L from the 1999 in my jeep a couple years ago but always wished I had a 5.3L v-8. Now I found a 2006 5.3L fairly inexpensive and am thinking of swapping engines. I put a novak adapter in the 99 to my transfer case so I don't want to mess with that again. Thanks

any gut feels on this? My thinking is it would work but I did find that the pressure control solenoid changed in 2003 so thats got me wondering. Looks like the shift solenoids did not from 99-2006.

If you got the 4l60e thats got a removeable bellhosing from the newer body style (2000+ usually) then it should work, I have a 2001 4l60e behind my 06 5.3 and it works like it should with no problems. Since yours came with a 4.3 im thinking it may be the older style with non removeable bell housing, those can still be used with a flywheel spacer then a stand alone transmission controller. With it being a 1999 it could be eather one cause 2000(or early 1999) was the first year with the LS motor. I just transplanted a 5.3 and 4L60e into a 92 chevy c1500 that had a 4.3 /700r4

Then it should work with the stock computer as far as i know. When i was hunting for a trans thats what i was told was the easiest way to identify and like i said mine is the top one as well and like i said it works great. I would also double check you may have to swap bellhousings but any junk yard you could score one cheap.
