Default mounds on black friday.

since i have the day off friday I was thinking of maybe going back out to the mounds to get one more fun day in before the big winter chill. as long as it holds up tomorrow putzing around with my 4 yr old i might go back on friday and get some actual wheeling on the rig. i have not tested it much yet and want to before snofari.

anybody interested?

nice meeting some more westsiders. just wish i would not of had fuel issue after only an hour and got to run around with you guys. did anybody besides the black yj try the woods rock crawl? those logs are just plain nasty now its pretty much a winchfest til you get past them. I spent the rest of the day riding in elusives rzr. which we had way to much fun with back in the woods. made a few new trails and put it on its side.

about that. 2 of the logs have busted loose of the cables and are moved. there is a 3ft undercut on one of the logs now. was there any talk about maintinience to the rock course? it would be nice to drop the logs back in place.

the slab is starting to get undercut as well. if we could get like a 4ft pad at the bottom it would really help it i think.

and I have this "friend" that really thinks most of those big rocks are un usable where they are. would this freind get in trouble if he got a couple more "friends"together and some of those terrible rock placements got moved to better spots to create an actual trail loop of the woods rock course.
This "friend" thinks some of these rocks only need to move 10-20ft to make a real loop.

my "friend" just hates to see so many beautiful rocks not being used.

He was the only one, and he spent most of the time winching. I think we saw you a few times as we were wondering thru the woods.

Maintenance talk? Yes there was but it was limited due to everything requiring budget approval, quotes and all the other red tape that comes with it. We had originally talked about doing a review after a year to see what was getting used and what was not. Right from the get go I felt there was some stuff that was not going to get used due to the placement. But short of being there every day, all day during the construction, it just wasn't possible to get them to fully understand what makes a course good or bad. I'm just glad the course to the right turned out so well. My guess is that the one line to the left has only been run once when we did it with your buggy. Simply harder than 99% want to attempt and the 1% ers are too cool to come down and actually see what was done at the mounds.

RE your "friend" and moving rocks........... It seems to me that rocks wrapped with a strap make great anchor points for winching. However, sometimes when winching, a rock is not quite as "stable" one might think and therefore "may" get pulled out of place. I kind of feel like this falls into a "don't ask, don't tell" or "it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission" scenario.

RE the undercut of the slab and the logs, I'll contact them and see what they have to say. Are we better to have the logs just pulled out of there?
