Default Who owns a Glock?

I am looking to by my first pistol and I am thinking about getting a Glock.

I would like a .45acp (Glock 30 or 36 correct?) and I want to be able to eventually conceal when I turn 21, so I want a somewhat compact gun that is still fun at the range.

Anyone with experiance/advice?

Thanks!

18 to 20 you can't purchase a handgun from a FFL. Are you planning on buying used?

What have you shot, and what haven't you shot? What makes you consider the Glock?

Not saying Glocks are a bad choice, they are a great gun. I'm personally not a fan because they do not fit my hand well compared to other offerings out there. I own an XDM and two S&W M&Ps. Love all three.

My recommendation is to shoot it first, then go from there. I can't tell you how many times I was considering a certain gun and was very close to buying it but shot one beforehand and then wouldn't consider it in a million years. It can completely change your decision.

Grease, I thought you could purchase if you get a pistol purchase from the police dept?

And Sam get the S&W MnP .45! Glocks are great guns, but wait until you hold the MnP. I guess if you have MONSTER hands the Glock would be a good choice, but for me it's like holding a 2x4

I have not shot a Glock but I have held a few of my friends and I like them. I do not have much experience with them or any other pistol. I have shot a few but nothing to be an expert on.

I was thinking Glock because of their reputation as being extremely reliable.

And I would either buy one used or have a friend who is 21 buy it and then I would "buy" it used from them.

Cuz you are gonna tag along dummy. And what I am reading online says that the S&W MnP is a little large to carry. Just something else to consider

glocks are great i carry a model 23 which is sub compact 40. keep in mind with a 45 there expensive to shoot cause cost of ammo and a 45 is a slower round then a 40. so a 45 really isnt better than a 40 just my 2 cents. also id u go with 40 lonewolf makes a barrel that u can switch in it to shoot 9mm which is what i do for target shooting cause its alot cheaper. u also have to buy a 9mm mag for it. but u def need to hit range and shoot several guns. what i and others like isnt going to be what u like for shure

Grease Monkey has the same feeling I do. The Springfields and Smiths feel great and shoot great. I just dont like the feel of the Glock in my hand. I got the Springfield XDs 45 single stack compact and really like it for a carry gun.

Keep in mind what you're talking about having your friend do below is illegal. That isn't to say though he can buy it and sell it to you later. He just can't purchase it under the pretense to give or sell it to you.

If you are going to carry it at the glock 30 is a bit wide. I have a glock 36 and love it and it eats any ammo i give it.

Is there anywhere in the Detroit Metro area where I could shoot before I buy if I wanted to buy new?

G27 is the sub-compact .40 & you can get barrels from lone wolf for 9mm & .357 Sig. G30 is a sub-compact .45acp double stack & G36 is the .45acp single stack. If you have smaller hands look at the "SF" models as the distance from the back of the grip to the trigger is 3mm shorter. I have all of these models and a couple others and they are all 100% reliable. The only other modification I use is a lighter (3 1/2 pound) trigger.

If your friend buys it for you that is considered a straw buyer and is illegal.

This but if he buys it and doesn't like it he certainly could sell it to you.

Advanced Ranges on Center Rd in Burton rents guns. I was going to buy a Glock 2 separate times. The first time I just didn't like the way it felt in my hand. The second time I shot one side by side with a Springfield XD. The XD won hands down for me. Like someone else posted. Pistols are like shoes, they have to fit you. I still wanna shoot a Glock Gen 4.
